I sighed and swished my tail in boredom as I lay on the cold stone ground. Aspen was off doing his 'Alpha duties', and I was left lying around the castle with nothing to do.
I huffed again before standing, my sore muscles ached like I was 100 years old or something.
I stepped out of the dull and unused study room I was laying in and padded along the halls. I sighed again and glared at the floor like I was blaming my boredom on it.
If I could just go outside, I wouldn't mind this.
My ears twitched when I heard whining from another room, and I walked into it while sniffing curiously.
The sounds seemed to be coming from even further into the room, and I huffed when I realised it was actually outside as I stared at three young wolves below me through the window.
They looked like pups, but were obviously old enough to shift. Unless they were like rogues and were born as wolves.
I doubt that.
The situation seemed rather hostile, as two of them were growling at and ganging up on one that was cowering up against the walls below me.
I smirked at the rather toned down pack version of bullying they seemed to be involved in. In rogue packs it doesn't count as bullying unless there are serious injuries on only one side.
What? What doesn't kill you makes you stronger they always used to say.
I listened in to their conversation in only slight interest; it's not like I had anything better to do.
'It's not like we actually care, its better if you just disappear!'
'Exactly, you're so pathetic! You actually hurt our chances of winning the game rather than helped out! We'd have been better off with the two of us!'
'I....It's not my fault I was put into your group."
'It's your fault you're so pathetic! A savage rogue would have more brains than you!'
Um, excuse me?
I growled before headbutting the window and slipping out when it dislodged from the sill.
The two pup's eyes widened as I landed in front of them and they quickly started whining and running off with their tails between their legs.
Pfft, pathetic.
I looked down at the lone pup as it slowly turned around. It started to shake as it looked up at me and I tilted my head at it before it shot off at the speed of light in the direction the others went.
Seriously?
I rolled my eyes before sighing and looking around.
I looked back up to the window and frowned. It's too high to get back up with my limp.
I guess I'll just...walk through the front door?
I closed my eyes and enjoyed the fresh breeze travelling through my fur for a moment.
Ugh, I'm too tired for this, I just want to lie down and not get up for a few years.
I took my time as I walked around the side of the castle, observing everything as I went.
My peace didn't last for long, however, as two nearly adult wolves showed up with the two pups trailing behind.
I sighed and growled lowly at them as a warning. I had no time for people right now.
'What is it doing out here?!' one of them snarled and I snorted.
'It'? Rude.
Can't they just leave me alone? I wasn't doing anything to them!
'Get back in your cage, murderer!' the other growled and I rolled my eyes before walking on.
That's what I'm trying to do!
The larger one of the two then stepped in my way making me give him an incredulous look.
Seriously??
There is only so much patience I can have for pack mutts!
And it's drying out!
'Can you not speak our language or something, savage stray!?' It spat in my face and I bared my teeth at him in warning.
'I wouldn't test your luck, ignorant pup!' I snapped, which got the adolescent wolf right in the soft spot and he snarled at me.
'I'll kill you for attacking my baby brother!' he yelled before lunging at me.
Attacking? I was standing still! I wasn't even growling!
These people get on my nerves!
I quickly dealt with my naive attacker by grabbing him by the scruff of his neck and flinging him several metres. The wolf landed with a yelp and a heavy thud before pathetically whining on the ground and not getting up.
The other teenage wolf tensed up causing the pups to start wailing and crying, hiding under his legs.
Oh come on it's not like I drew blood or anything.
I snapped my head to the right to investigate the sound of pawbeats just in time to see a brown blur of a wolf barrelling into me.
It didn't quite go as they planned I can assume though, as they simply flipped over me without so much as imbalancing me.
They winced on the floor as I looked down at them, noting their familiar scent - one of Aspen's groupies I think.
The wolf gathered its composure again before growling at me. I sighed and just tried to carry on walking back, but it wasn't going to be that easy.
The wolf latched on to my injured back leg making me yelp before flinging my head around and practically roaring in it's face on rage-filled impulse.
The wolf reacted on instinct and quickly escaped from my reach. I could have stopped there, but I didn't, I was just so pissed off.
I followed the wolf as it retreated and pulled it back towards me. I could see it's clear 'oh shit' expression as I raked my claws down it's side before grabbing it's leg and flipping it over.
I let go on impact with the floor and then snarled aggressively in it's face as it lay there, dazed.
I blinked in surprise when I looked back up to see Aspen's wolf staring at me, eyes wide in shock.
He looked at the gathering of wolves around us in what seemed to be panic.
'What the fuck have you done!!?' Was the first thing he mind linked me and I sighed.
'This is serious, Ziathe! How is the pack supposed to accept you now, how are they supposed to trus-'
'-THEY WOULD NEVER HAVE TRUSTED ME! Who do you think they are, stupid!?' I snapped back and he shut his mouth in some kind of pissed off speechlessness.
'Jus-Just come back with me now, quietly, before it gets any worse.' He instructed urgently and I scoffed at him.
'PLEASE, Ziathe!' He begged and looked at me with desperate, pleading eyes.
I sighed in irritation.
'Fine.'
He seemed to let a relieved breath go before waiting for me to walk with him.
I took one look back at the two wolves on the floor before walking back in the direction of the castle.
He's acting like the world is ending or something, it can't be that bad.
