My life is a book of darkness, and within it, ever growing shadows.
The day was cold. The crisp winter breeze did nothing to aid my ever freezing body. I had a family to go home to, a walk not more than 20 minutes.
It was almost asking for something to happen.
And something did.
The street lights had yet to come on, and the whirs of cars passing by only fueled my fear. I got a text from my child telling me to be careful and I chuckled while taking a screenshot. I continued on, braving the increasingly cold winds and the gradually darkening night.
Eighteen minutes:
A shadow raced behind me. I turned around and saw nothing, and the shadow had disappeared.
A man walked behind me but I only saw the shadow casting across the sidewalk, spilling in front of me.
As I looked back, I realized my imagination and paranoia were fooling me.
Fifteen minutes:
I sped up my pace. The time only went slower but the shadows seemed to be catching up to me.
The sun had set, and a dog howled in the distance. I jumped in surprise and fear.
Twelve minutes:
The shadows are catching up to me. I started to speed walk.
Eleven minutes:
Something's wrong.
Someone is behind me.
I broke out into a run.
Nine minutes:
Another howl in the distance, another five shadows closing in.
Six minutes:
Where am I?
Five minutes:
It's too dark.
What's happening?
Where am I?Three minutes:
I don't like this at all. My family must be waiting for me.
What street am I on?
I see a streetlight a block from here.Two minutes
The shadows are closing in.
I feel something whispering on my skin. One minute:
... .... ... ....
GAME OVER.
