Third person
Leonardo was rather slow to age. He was nearly five years old now but still looked rather small for his age. He was half candy and half vampire, an unusual combination. He was considered to be the first of his kind, but that didn't make him stand out.
While he was no social butterfly he didn't always like to stay in the ground either. He preferred to have a group of just himself. One might consider him a loner. This of course worried Gumball and Marshall Lee. They wanted their son to have friends, considering neither of them never really had close ones.
One day, or night rather, the family decided to take a picnic into the forest. Leo liked the forest and the mysteries it held inside. He was a curious child and was already trying to explore new and exciting things almost constantly. He was a child after all. What child doesn't like new things?
"Daddy! Can we play hide and seek?" The child asked eagerly, jumping up and down like the little ball of energy he was.
Gumball smiled and nodded. He loved their close relationship. Leo particularly liked playtime. It was his favorite part of going outside.
Both Gumball and Marshall had their own way of parenting and taught him different things. Gumball taught science and baking while Marshall taught music and social skills. Even Peppermint maid threw in some royal etiquette now and then. This child was certainly going to grow up with a rather wide variety of skills. Which would be good for him.
Leo ran into the thick group of trees, giggling as Marshall began to count down from one hundred. The child had to find somewhere to hide quickly.
He looked around the forest. He would hide in the hollow tree, but it was too obvious and he had hidden there many times before. Climbing high up would only risk him standing out amongst the leaves with his pink color. Even if it was dark his parents would still be able to spot him in a heart beat. So he continued to run deeper into the forest.
Marshall was nearly half way done counting. After many games he considered himself to be experienced. Leo picked a lot of similar hiding spots so he knew what to look for to find their son.
This time Leo decided to do something completely different. He ran passed all his usual hiding places and out towards the pond. He knew where it was after many walks with his parents.
Although there was nowhere to hide it was a rather beautiful thing to see at night. The trees were open around it and the moon's light shone onto the water. But there was one thing that stood out: an orange figure on the other side of the pond.
Leo was confused when he saw the reflection in the water and looked up. It was a boy who was bigger than him, but perhaps not much older. The vampire boy was unsure what to do and simply stayed where he was, watching the other slowly move closer.
As the strange boy did so Leo could feel the heat start to radiate off of him. The boy was very warm and there was something Leo liked about it.
"What's your name?" Leo asked the boy, walking a bit closer to feel the warmth.
"My name's Blake... What's yours?" The boy replied, finally seeing the vampire boy up close.
"I'm Leo... Could we be friends?"
"Sure. I don't have any friends." Blake said, happy to finally have someone to be his friend.
"Neither do I." Leo added, a smile plastered on his pink face.
And just like that, a lifetime of friendship was born.
