Karkat always accepted he would never lead a happy life. He was destined to die in an hour, sitting in his cold cell. Guards pacing back and fourth in front of it, as if the guard was mocking Karkats secluded grey space. No activities, Karkat was left alone with his thoughts. That was when he heard footsteps, a head bang against the cold floor and a blonde man cloaked in red with almost solid black shades, as if they were blocks of black. Karkat stared,

"Who the fuck are you?"

"Sup? I'm your saviour." The blonde man was holding a lock picking device, Karkat heard a crack and the cell door opened.

"Why are you helping a lowly troll such as I? Second of all, you are not my fucking "Saviour." Karkat said, suspicious. The man reached into his pocket, and a necklace fell out, but still in his grip. It showed "69." Karkat fell silent, "You're a follower?" He spat, quietly.

"Enough said, come on." He grabbed Karkats wrist and yanked him out of the cell, putting a finger to his lips, "stay silent." Karkat nodded. The two crept through the damp hallways. The man finally spoke, "I have a way out, so you trust me?" The man asked, Karkat stared, studying his stoic face. After a sufficient period of prolonged silence, Karkat spoke.

"Don't make me regret it." Karkat sighed.

"Good choice." And the two went through a hole big enough to crawl through, "you go first." Karkat nodded, and went through the dark hole, soon seeing a bright light.

"There is a fucking sewer place in the fucking floor? How do you find these things?!"

"I have my ways." The man smirked, "we have to hurry, or we'll be caught." A scream echoed from the empty grey hallways, "looks like they found out the guard I killed, come on." The man opened the heavy cap like thing to the sewers, and climbed down the ladder, soon Karkat followed.

"It fucking stinks down here." Karkat complained.

"Would you rather be killed?" The man retorted.

"I stand corrected." Karkat admitted, "How do you know about the sufferer? Wasn't that a highly guarded secret by the nobles?"

"I have my sources, I'm a wanted culprit as well, for the following of the Sufferer." He stopped, and turned around. "You are his descendant. We need you to be our leader."

"Wait wait wait, hold the motherfuck up, you mean to tell me I'm the descendant of a fucking revolutionary leader and you want me to lead you?!"

"You obviously have some sort of memory of him locked up, considering you kind of froze up when I showed you my chain. You wouldn't know who he was if you were not his descendant. Your a mutant, that information is commonly not disclosed to your kind." The splats of water sounded as the man walked in his cloak.

"I haven't even asked your name." Karkat said, changing the subject.

"If you're going to change the subject, do it more subtly please, My name is Dave."

Karkat froze, is was disappointing "Dave" knew he changed the subject, not that it wasn't obvious.

"And you are?" The newly named human asked.

"Karkat. Why do you care?"

"Why do you care about my name?" Dave retorted, wittily. Karkat was quiet.

"How do you know your way around these sewers?" Asked Karkat.

"I travel here a lot, saving trolls and humans alike who prove to be a valuable asset."

"So you basically break anyone you think has value out."

"Yup"

Karkat sighed, "So what do we do once I get out? Do you guys have a secret lair? Is there anymore if you?"

"Yea, there is much more of us. Enough to make a thousand beautiful pirouettes off of a handle."

"O-" Karkat was caught off  by hurrying footsteps through the sewer.

"They must've gone this way! Hurry!" A man yelled.

Dave sighed, "follow me."  He grabbed Karkats hand. It felt warm and soft he kinda en- now is not the time! Karkat told himself, and fled with Dave. Dave slammed him against the wall and covered Karkats mouth, ,and footsteps ran past them, all but one. They both stayed still, bodies touching. One of the searching guards decided he saw enough, and joined the others. Dave took his hand off of Karkats mouth, and Karkat gasped. Holding your breath wasn't fun. Dave backs away, "Sorry about that."

"It's nothing.." Karkat said quietly, "let's go." The two quietly sneaked around, until they came across a ladder.

"You first." Dave gestured, "wear my cloak, it'll hide your face." He took it off and swung it around Karkat.

"what about you?" Karkat asked.

"I'm not very notorious, I'll be fine." Dave pulled up his hoodie and Karkat began climbing without another word. Blinding light hit Karkat as he lifted up the sewer cover, and crawled out. Dave followed. Guards patrolled, one recognized
Karkats face despite the red cloak he wore. The guard unsheathed her sword and ran towards Karkat, but Dave got in the way, brandishing a katana.

"Go! Keep on running forward and turn left when you see a big grassy hill, run up that! You'll know what to do!" Dave yelled, as he fended off the guard.

"But-"

"Run! I'll be fine!" Dave screamed. Karkat bolted off, running straight forward as told until he reached a big hill, ran up that and came to a cave. Guards stood outside of it, but they seemed to recognize Karkat.

"Come on come in!" One guard purred, coaxing Karkat in, "where's Dave?" She asked.

"...fighting off guards."

"That's not good, he'll make it out, I'm sure of it."

Karkat was taken aback, "How are you so confident he'll be fine?"

"Trust is vital."

"Ok.." Karkat panted, "who are you?"

"Nepeta. I already know your name!" They went into the cave, and lots of other trolls, as well as humans were there, "Welcome to the revolution,
"Leader."
