Karkat sighed, Dave was asleep and people still couldn't keep their mouths shut about him. He was about to order them to be quiet. In the cave was a bar, although it was a cave, it was huge and the equivalent of a normal house. Karkat was drinking some wine. Beside him sat a fashionable girl with short black hair. He decided he should probably get to know his followers.
"Hey." He said, and the girl turned her head.
"Hello, I Assume You Are Karkat?" She addressed Karkat as if he was some sort of royalty. Or not, maybe it was just how she sounded so intellectual.
"In the flesh."
"Wonderful, I Am Kanaya. A Devoted Follower Of Your's, It Was A Very Courageous Act To Decide And Save Dave So Hastily And Throw Yourself In Harms Way."
"Well, I wasn't about to let him fucking die." Karkat spat.
"Just Like The Sufferer, Expect More Angry And Less Forgiving."
"How do you know him?" Karkat asked.
"Oh, All Of The Sufferers Followers Are Well Educated On Who He Is And How He Acts."
"Oh, I kinda know all of that already." Karkat scratched his head, "aren't you the descendant of the Sufferers mother?" Karkat paused, "does that...make you my mother..?"
"I Suppose It Does, Then That Makes Nepeta Your Lover And Sollux Your Brother."
"Oh..but of course I don't actually have a crush on Nepeta now."
"You Do Not Need To Follow The Sufferers Love Life, Love Whom Ever You Like." Kanaya said, sounding down to earth.
"Wise wor-" Karkat saw Dave stumbling over to the bar, and leaning on the table for support. He somehow got onto the chair and ordered whiskey. That makes sense. Alcohol is the equivalent of painkillers, the area wasn't filled so there wasn't many people to see his state, but he looked better.
"Dave, Are You Ok?"
"I'm feeling so amazing I could run a marathon Kanaya."
Lies. Karkat thought to himself.
"Well, Good Luck With That "Marathon" If You Go Through With It."
"NAHH, I'm too cool for that." Dave crossed his arms, drinking the whiskey. (Their all 19, don't worry)
"What ever you say." Karkat rolled his eyes, "slow down on the whiskey, you'll become wasted in no time."
"I'll be the best fucking drunk to ever grace Alternia, Karkat."
Karkat scoffed, "Sure." Kanaya chuckled,
"You Two Sound Like A Couple."
"We are not!" They both yelled, and Kanaya just chuckled.
"I Must Be Going Now, I Have Things To Tend Too, Nice Seeing You, Karkat, Dave." She left the room, and with that Dave let go of his composure. No one else was at the bar expect the worker, who was too busy to notice Dave's suffering.
"I hurt all over!" He whined, downing another shot.
"That's enough for you." Karkat took away the bottle of Whiskey.
"Be that way..anyways, when will the time be that you finally preach a sermon? Normally we won't do it in the city, we just gather people in an area and preach."
"I don't know if I'm cut out for this "leader" thing...I mean, I just discovered I'm the leader of a revolutionary group. That's a lot of responsibility and things to take in." Karkat rested his head on the counter.
"You'll be fine, you're a natural. It will come to you." Dave reassured Karkat.
"But what if it doesn't? What if I fail?"
"You won't."
"You're placing too much confidence in me, I'm nothing." Karkat sighed, "I wouldn't be alive without you."
"You don't need me, you're perfectly capable. Now, got a sermon planned?"
"Does it look like I have the fucking time?! I'll just improvise." Karkat sighed, "how will we round the people?"
"We normally just gather them to one private spot. Ya'know, pay people to advertise instead of getting ourselves killed by doing it ourselves." Dave stared, "you've got ten minutes until you need to be there, so will all of the other trolls supporting the sufferer."
"Oh fuck Strider! Why don't you tell me these things?!" Karkat rushed off, and Dave followed. A crowd of people were outside, unaware of the hide out. Karkat gulped.
"You'll do fine." Dave reassured him, "I'll be there beside you." He put a hand on Karkats shoulders and they stood in front of the bustling crowd. Kanaya, Terezi and Nepta along with other trolls watched.
"May I have you attention?" The crowd quieted, and Karkat cleared his throat.
"I have been peaceful, I have been kind. I only dared to speak what no others have been dreaming for so long. I had dreams too, dreams of what might have been. Where blood was simply blood, and all of us were equal, If wishing for that is heresy, then yes, i deserve to die. I have seen the most sublime acts of kindness, and the most vile cruelty. They say powerful beings find anger when they have no room for love. What made you so? Are you afraid of change? Are you afraid of those who are different? I realize, I am different from you. I have known feelings none of you can ever hope to know. I have know the comradery of a friend who supported me against all odds, I known the love of a guardian who took me in when no others would and raised me to dream and love. I have known love that transcended definition. Karkat stopped. He actually never experienced any of that, it was just something he spat out. The crowd collapsed into cheering and claps. Kanaya , Terezi and Nepeta as well as Dave watched, in awe. Karkat just repeated The Sufferers final sermon, off from heart. "That is all I have to say, will you stand by these tyrants, or will you rebel?!" The crowd cheered louder. Dave stepped up and stood beside Karkat, "I told you you would do just fine, you just repeated the final sermon of the sufferer. You're a natural, Karkat." Dave smiled. Soon the crowd dispersed, leaving the trolls.
"Wow Karkat! That was spectacular!" Nepeta chirped.
"You Did Excellent, Repeating The Sufferers a Final Sermon Off From Heart, Karkat."
Terezi just clapped, "Amazing!"
"Thanks, didn't think I'd be able to do it." Karkat chuckled. Every thing seemed to be going all dandy. He was warming up to this whole "leader" thing. And so, the five headed back into the cave, chatting happily.
"You don't have a room yet, Karkat. So I guess we'll be sharing one." Dave suggested. The two were alone now.
"No fucking way, that's way to awkward!"
"Fine, sleep on the floor." Dave crawled into the bed.
"Fine.." Karkat sighed, in defeat crawling in beside Dave. He was so warm, it was nice. Nope, nope. That was not allowed. Karkat ignored the intruding thoughts, and felt hands in his hair.
"Are you fucking playing with my hair, Strider?" Questioned Karkat.
"You fucking bet, it's softer than a cats fluffy fur."
"Yea yea, get your hands ou-" a hand reached his horns.
"Back the fuck off! No!" Karkat yelled.
"Whoa whoa are these like troll genitals or somthing?"
"No they fucking aren't! Their just sensitive!"
"I'll note that down." Dave stopped playing with Karkats hair and forced himself to sleep. Karkat soon dozed off as well.
