Karkat looked around, there were humans and trolls a like, bearing the same "69" symbol on a necklace. One troll stuck out like a sore thumb. She had sharp red cat eye glasses and threateningly sharp horns. She spotted Karkat staring at her and walked over,
"So this is the real thing, huh? Dave talks about how excited he was to save you. Speaking of such, where is he?" The girl said, and Karkat hesitated. Nepeta spoke up for him,
"He got caught in a small battle, he'll be o-" on the news, a blonde man appeared.
"Holy shit." Karkat swore. The news rambled on.
Wanted culprit Dave Strider will be executed for possessing the forbidden symbol, in two hours." It showed the young man, in cuffs, but not burning, yet. Although that would do more no damage than what Dave was dealt. Whip marks and slices littered his body, cuts on his face and bruises.
"Holy fuck." Karkat swore again. The room was filled with gasps of despair, "I need to go back! I can't fail again!" Karkat began rushing out, when the girl stopped him.
"Don't be so dumb! We have two hours, we need a plan." She spoke up.
"Good idea, Terezi." Nepeta's spoke up.
"Ok then, what is this "plan?!" Karkat spat.
"Dave probably took you through the sewers, do you remember the way back?" Asked the now known female, named Terezi, Karkat nodded.
"We'll take that way."
"But he's in a fucking arena! Everyone will see!"
"Nepeta and I will distract the executers.
"Fine, lets get going, fuck asses." Karkat threw on the cloak Dave gave him.
.
.
.
Dave.
He was going to save him.
As he stalked out the cave, Terezi and Nepeta followed. As soon as they reached the town, Karkat ordered them to stay low as they crept against the walls. He lifted up the sewer cover and climbed down the ladder, with Nepeta and Terezi following. Foot steps splashed in the sewer liquid.
"Disgusting." Terezi scoffed.
"Exactly what I said." Karkat muttered, and Nepeta made no comment about the putrid smell. Karkat navigated the sewers, trying to remember the way Dave took.
"Listen, Karkat." Terezi stared.
"What?"
"As much as I'll miss Dave, leave him if you're in deep water. We need you."
"How could you say that?!" Karkat scoffed, "I would rather die with him in each other's arms!"
"Some ones overly attached." Terezi commented, "alright, I've no power over you, but if I need to, I will drag you out of there myself."
Karkat ignored her.
"We're here, make sure you're quiet." Karkat whispered, Terezi and Nepeta nodded. They climbed out of the damp cold and slimey sewers and into the cold grey hallways. They soon found their way to the arena, and Karkat stopped, "ok, fend them off. I'll flee with Dave, once I'm out you two better haul your sorry asses out of that god forsaken arena." Terezi and Nepeta nodded, tucking in their necklaces. They walked out into the arena, and Terezi began picking a fight.
"Hey! Idiot, fight me!" Terezi spat and brandished her weapon along side Nepeta with her claws.
"Why you-!" The guards growled and charged.
Karkat ran as fast as he could to Dave, and quickly untied him. He couldn't do anything about the cuffs, but he'll take care of those later.
"Kar...kat?" Dave questioned, tiredly. He felt like he couldn't breathe, like he was going to die.
