Minho's POV (yeet):

I ran the maze, blocking everything out. Tears were blurring my eyes the deeper I ran into the maze. The Glade had lost a good friend. Jade made everyone smile and generally happier. She was a best friend, a parent and a sibling all at once. She had saved both me and Alby, and sacrificed herself. It absolutely broke me that I would never be able to see her smiling face again. I couldn't lose my sister.

Although there was still a small part of me that had hoped Jade would survive. She was a strong, fast and sneaky person. She had higher chances. I instantly smiled at that thought, but it was quickly replace with a frown.

"Don't get your hopes up high, ya shank," I mumbled to myself as my feet prodded the grounds. I stopped next to a thick patch of ivy on the wall, seeing drops of blood there, where I picked up the bloody cloth. I sat on the patch and let the tears fall.

Jade's POV:

I opened my eyes to see a beam of sunlight blinding me. Which could only mean one thing.

I was the first Glader who had officially survived a night in the Maze.

Suck on that, Newt.

I grinned triumphantly before standing up, a wave of nauseousness hitting me. Immediately, I stumbled, holding the ivy for support. I got up again, gripping the ivy. I limped away, memorising the pattern and doing it backwards. Right, left, right, right, left. I continued limping until I heard faint sounds of sobbing. I inched close and was slightly shocked to see Minho sitting on the Maze ground, head in his arms.

I walked slow and steadily towards him.

"Minho?" I whispered. I already felt tears brimming my eyes. Was it all real? Was I hallucinating?

His head shot up and he looked around frantically, his head stopping when he landed on me. He stood up immediately and engulfed me in a hug, letting more tears flow. Soon, both of us were crying.

So it was real.

"I thought you died," he said into my hair.

"I thought you died, sis," he repeated.

I pulled away and wiped his tears.

"Damn, bro, you wanted me dead?" I joked. He took it lightly and chuckled while sniffling.

"Let's go back into the Glade," he said, hoisting me up on his back.

"I can walk, you know," I said, as I got comfortable on his back.

"Do you want to walk?" he asked.

I shook my head. No way in hell was I gonna decline a piggy back ride. He just laughed and we set off.

"Go onwards! My trusty steed," I laughed, my hair blocking me face. He started to run faster and soon I could see the Glade in sight. I gripped his hair so I wouldn't fall and he yelped.

"Not so hard, Jade! This hair is precious," he said, as we entered the Glade. I laughed and looped my arm around his neck. We had gathered the attention of most of the Glade and people  started running towards us. I saw Jack drop his tools as he rushed towards me, cheering and crying.

Minho set me down and I was immediately engulfed in a group hug by most of the Glade. Gladers had tears in their eyes, some whooping and cheering. Jack was a mess as he kept chanting 'thank God thank God'. Frypan went off to make a big feast for tonight. It was an emotional reunion. I saw Newt walking from the distance, his face a mix of shock, happiness and surprised. There was also a hint of anger.

"Newt!" I shouted, bolting for him, hugging his abdomen. His body was tense and I was confused. He didn't reply to me, he just looked at me.

"Newt?" I asked, releasing him from my hold. His eyes suddenly flared and his face turned red.
