Jade's POV:

"The next event is cops and robbers," Alex declared. There were whoops and shouts. Gally and his buddies had sat out from the Games and had called them 'childish'. But honestly, who cared? These poor Gladers had spent their young years working hard in the Glade to keep it going, and they missed out on majority of their childhood. I was going to give some back to them.

Newt gave me a big grin. This was his favourite game as a child, from what he could remember from his dreams. 

"Can those whose names start with the letter M and N step out please," Alex said to the group of gladers. We had about 40 in total and about 10 stepped out, including Newt and Minho. 

"This is going to be hard," I heard Jack murmur beside me. Ben agreed. I noticed Mike, Michael and Minho grinning evilly. They were the fastest in the entire Glade, hence, they were runners. They were sure to get all of us in about 10 minutes. I shot Newt a pout and he just raised his eyebrows. I signalled my head to Mike and he just sighed and gave me a smile. 

"Those who had stepped out are going to be the cops. Those who aren't are the robbers, everyone got it?" Alex asked the crowd. There were shouts of agreement.

"Robbers will get 10 seconds to run off. The last remaining robber will get a point for their team. Now go!" Alex shouted. The remaining bunch of Gladers all scurried off. I ran off with Jack and into the Deadheads, where some of the Gladers went. Jack climbed a tree and I climbed onto the other facing his. I climbed deeper and deeper until I was sure I was fully hidden from sight. Jack gave me a thumbs up and started to move branches to hide himself. I sat there and threw hand signals to Jack, attempting to communicate with him.

Soon, I heard the familiar thuds of the boots of the 'cops' on the forest ground. Leaves were crunching as they called out names of the various Gladers who had hid in the trees. I saw a few Gladers being spotted and they walked back, some smiling and some who stomped away with fake annoyance, earning some laughs from the cops.

Jack snorted and attracted the attention of Minho. His head whipped around and Jack cupped his mouth, eyes wide. I saw Minho through the gaps of the leaves walk closer to Jack's tree. Jack just shrugged and hopped down from the tree before sprinting away from Minho. Newt and Minho saw Jack running and gave chase. 

A few minutes later, I heard Jack's familiar voice cursing, meaning that he had been caught. I almost laughed. I almost leant too much to the back and almost fell from the tree, but caught myself in time. I heaved a sigh of relief. 

After about half an hour, I heard the Gladers voices calling my name.

"Its over Jade, come out!" I heard Newt shout.

"Dont! They are waiting for you!" I heard Jack yell. I thought for a minute and hopped down the tree. I scurried towards the walls and crept along them, not making a sound. I stepped on a dry leaf by accident and a loud crunch could be heard.

"Shit" I mumbled. Newt and Mike were walking towards the place that I was creeping along. 

"Welp," I said, before dashing out. I whipped past Newt who looked shocked.

"She's here! Get her!" I heard Mike yell out to the other cops. I sped up even more. I could hear the shouts of the 'robbers' at the sidelines, cheering me to go on. By now, I was in plain sight of everyone. I was at the middle of the Glade. 

I looked back and literally saw all 10 'cops' on my tail, Minho being the one closest to me. I pumped my feet faster until I widened the gap between the cops. I grinned triumphantly and started to go through difficult structures, dodging every piece of wood in my path and running zig-zagged.
