Chapter 3

I was glad it was the weekend. Cam was, once again, tossing and turning and making so much noise in his room, which was only keeping me up at night. I was just thankful I was able to sleep in.

Well, only for a bit. Mom decided to wake all of us up at nine o'clock because she didn't want us sleeping in too late.

Nine o'clock. That was way too early to be awake on a weekend. Back home, I was able to sleep in until past noon without Mom trying to wake me up.

I sighed and laid in bed, staring up at the ceiling. I had to admit, having five other teens living here with me wasn't too bad. I still had my own bedroom, and Avery and Abby weren't the type of people to take two hours in the washroom every night.

I just wanted to lay in bed for a few hours since I couldn't go back to sleep, but then Mom called us all downstairs for breakfast. I rubbed my eyes and pulled myself out of bed before going downstairs and into the dining room where everyone else was except for Cam.

"Did you see Cam leave his bedroom?" Mom asked me when she saw me.

I shook my head. "No, his bedroom door was still closed."

"Can you go get him? He may have not heard me call everyone down."

I turned around to leave the dining room right as Cam walked in. "Don't worry, I heard," Cam said. "And I smelled the bacon. It just took me a while to get out of bed."

"You okay?" I asked quietly. "I heard you tossing and turning again."

Cam just nodded before sitting down at the table. I sat down in the empty seat beside him and everyone began eating. Mom already had the food set on plates in front of us so nobody would serve themselves more than others.

"Now, I know you guys probably don't want to hear this, but on Saturdays, everyone is going to have a chore to do," Mom said.

Everyone began objecting, but she held up a hand to stop us from talking. "I know, it sucks, but there's eight of us living here now and it won't be fair for me to clean up after all of you while my husband is at work. I don't mind cleaning up around here on schooldays, but Saturdays, you're all home so it would be nice for some help."

"That actually is fair," Avery said. "So, what do you want us to do, Mrs. Mattice."

Mom smiled. "Well, first off, you don't have to call me Mrs. Mattice. Call me Lunette." She then told everyone the chores she wanted us to do on Saturdays. Mine was doing the breakfast dishes and cleaning up the kitchen after breakfast. I honestly didn't mind mine at all because I would rather have mine early and do what I want for the rest of the day than to have to do it later on.
