Chapter 6

It wasn't hard to fake being sick since I was extremely tired from not getting that much sleep at night. When Mom walked into my room to wake me up, I told her I wasn't feeling well and I almost vomited a few times during the night.

That was enough for Mom to believe me. She hated the mention of vomit, so one word of that and looking sick was all I needed.

Before she left my bedroom, she told me to text her if I needed anything and she was heading off to work right after she dropped the others off at school.

I stayed in my bed until I heard her car pull out of the driveway and drove off. I then got out of bed and walked downstairs to get something to eat.

Since nobody was home, I decided to have a breakfast Mom and Dan never let me have: a bunch of candy.

Mom and Dad had a secret stash that was in the exact same place as it was in our old house, which was in a bag of peas sitting in the fridge. I accidentally discovered it one day by moving it out of the way when I was looking for the ketchup and a few fell out.

My parents didn't know I knew about it.

I grabbed a few small packs of M&M and closed the fridge. "Isn't candy for breakfast bad for you?" someone suddenly said, making me jump.

I looked over to see Cam leaning in the archway, a small smile on his face. "What are you doing here?" I asked.

       "Uh....I live here?"

"I meant I thought you would be at school with the others," I said. "I didn't know you were still home, so thanks for making my heart stop."

"You are very welcome," he said. "And to answer your question, I didn't feel like going to school today so I faked being sick. It was weird, as soon as I mentioned vomit, your mom just let me stay home."

"Yeah, she has a very weak stomach," I said. "That's basically all it takes to convince her you're sick."

Cam opened the fridge and reached into the bag of peas to get himself so candy.

"Did you see me get into that?" I asked.

"Nope. I found it a while ago."

       "What? How?"

"Well, I was in the fridge and I smelled chocolate and I didn't smell peas. I had my suspicions. You're still going to the doctor's today, right?"

"That is why I stayed home from school. Besides, now that you're staying home as well, there's no way you're going to let me not go. I still don't see why you're making me go. I've said it before and I'll say it again; I already got it checked out. It's really just a series of headaches."

       "You're telling me."

       "What does that mean?"

"You don't find it odd? How frequently it occurs and how you have to stop whatever it is you're doing because of how bad it is?"

"Not really, no. You know what I do find odd, though?"

       "Don't say it."

"Fine. I won't say it. I'm thinking it, but I'm not saying it. So....if werewolves exist, does that mean other supernaturals do? Like vampires or witches?"

Cam shrugged. "Possibly. I haven't met any. I haven't even met any other werewolves before. Now hurry up and eat so we can head out."

       "We?"
