Chapter 10

There was a knock on the door and I knew exactly who it was, but I refused to get off of my bed to open the door. Cam sighed and knocked on the door again. "Come on, Juliet," he said. "You can't lock me out of here."

       "Yes, I can," I said.

"No, you can't," Cam said. "I just don't want to break the doorknob yet again, but I will if you don't come open the door. I just want to talk."

       "About what?"

"Yesterday. Look, I want to help."

"There's nothing you can help with."

       "Juliet, please."

"Yeah, Juliet," I heard Marshal say on the other side of the door. "Give Romeo a chance for....whatever it is he wants."

"Would you stop calling me Romeo?" Cam asked.

"Nope," Marshal said. "That, like, takes away the point of my nicknames for people."

"Okay, but can you go away?" Cam asked. "I need to talk to Juliet, alone."

"Fine, I'll go see my Bubblegum."

After Marshal walked away, Cam said, "Juliet, you have to let me in. And I'm serious. I will break the doorknob if I really have to, so you might as well just save us both the time and trouble and open the door."

I sighed and got off the bed before walking over to my bedroom door. I unlocked it and opened it for Cam to come in. Once he was inside, he closed the door.

"Look, I know you probably feel very weird," Cam said. "But you can't just ignore what happened yesterday."

"I'm trying to," I said. "Those creatures, whatever they were, left me alone and....and I was showing fear. How can someone go sixteen years of their lives without knowing who or what they really are?"

"Believe it or not, there are a lot of supernatural beings out there that don't find out until later on," he said. "But....You know, it can explain your headaches. Maybe what you are is starting to kick in."

"I'd rather be a full human, thank you very much."

"Well, it can't happen," Cam said. "You're something special, and you have to accept it."

       "I can't accept it, Cam," I said. "I can't."

       "And why not?"

"Because I just can't!" I said. "I'm sixteen and this couldn't have been hidden from me for so long! I've led a completely normal life until you came along and messed it all up!"

"Okay, just because I'm a supernatural being, it doesn't mean you can blame me," Cam said. "You would have still been what you are whether I came here or not, so you have to just accept it."

"No, I don't!" I said, my hands flying in the air for emphasis.

Suddenly, my hair brush flew across the room and nearly hit the mirror sitting on my dresser. It hit the wall beside it before landing on the dresser and knocking a few items over.

Cam stared at me dresser for a bit before looking back at me. "Can you do that again?"

       "I didn't do that," I said.

"Uh, yeah, you did," Cam said. "That explains your headaches. I mean, it really explains your headaches. You're telekinetic."

       "I'm what?"
