Chapter 7

*James POV*

I knocked on the door to Maria's room. She opened it and she greeted me with a hug. We both sat down at the table and started to read our textbooks.
"James, I need some help."
"Well that's why we're studying together."
"No. Um. I mean, advice."
I looked at her a little confused, "What's on your mind?"
"I um. I really like this person, but I doubt she feels the same way at all."
"So it's a she?" She covered her mouth, realizing what she had just revealed.
"Um. Yeah.." She looked down, and her cheeks flushed red.
"May I ask who it is? If you don't want to say, its alright."
"No, its okay. Uh, i-it's Peggy."
She looked back up at me with a hopeful smile.
"Awwh. You two would be adorable together. You should ask her out, what's the worst that can happen?"
She looked scared again, and questioned me.
"The worst that can happen? She could be straight and she could be creeped out by me and never talk to me again!"
"Maria, you forget that her best friend is a pretty gay man. Im sure she won't mind you having a crush on her. I'm sure she'll be flattered. I think you should just ask her out."
"I'll give it a shot, I guess."
I got up and gave her a hug, "It'll be alright. I promise."

*Peggy POV*

I texted John, making sure it was alright to come over at this time.

Pegleg: Is now an okay time?

It took a minute for him to reply

Turtlefucker: Yeah, whenever you're ready.

I went to John and Alex's dorm. I was waiting outside when I texted everyone in the group chat to come here.

Weirdos N' Hoes

Pegleg: Can we all meetup at John and Alex's room in a few minutes?

Helpless💖: Angie, Aaron, and I will meet you there.

Frenchfry: Herc and I will be there right away.

When I finished sending the text, the door opened. "Hi" I was really nervous for what was about to happen.
"I assumed you were here once you sent the text. Come on, get inside."
I waved at Alex, who was eating a bowl of cereal at the table.
"You ready?"
I looked at John, my heart pounding.
"Y- yeah"
"You'll be okay, we're here if you need us."
John and I sat down on the couch, he was rubbing circles in my back, trying to comfort me.
"Are you two dating?"
John and I both turned our heads at Alex. "Ew, no. Peggy is like a sister to me."
"Oh. I was just wondering. I didn't mean to upset you."
"No! Don't be sorry! You're new so you couldn't have known. Its fine." I stood up and gave Alex a little hug. I then sat down at the table with him. I was about to ask him what he was reading but then there was a knock at the door. I looked straight at John who was starting to get up to answer the door. I gave him a nod, as to say I'm ready.

He opened the door, and everyone was waiting to enter. They all came in, wondering why I wanted to meet them here. I told them to gather around in the living room. John sat next to me, rubbing my back.
"There's something I want to tell you guys."

My heart started to race and I was shaking a little.

"I.. I'm gay.. And I think I'm genderfluid."

Everyone jumped up and cheered. "PEGGY THAT'S AWESOME!" Angie gave me a big hug. "We have to go out and celebrate! I'll pay!"

Everyone gave me individual hugs and some kind words.

"Guys, hold on. You see the necklace he's wearing right now. I bought it for him so we know what pronouns to use. Yellow is feminine, orange is both/neither, and blue is masculine." 

"Is there a different name you want to be called?" Alex said, grabbing his phone off the table. Everyone else looked at me, waiting for my answer.
"No, I like my name. I don't mind being called Peggy even when I feel more masculine."
"Alright. If you change your mind, let us know."

We all walked out of the dorm and went to a restaurant off campus.

"I'm really happy for you Pegs. I'm glad you figured out who you are." Eliza put her arm around me, and Angie put her arm around me as well. We all walked in sync to not screw up the little chain we had.

We walked into the restaurant, and sat down at a big booth table. Our waiter walked up to our table. To our surprise, it was John Adams.

"John? Is that you?" John asked.
"Oh. Hi John. What are you guys doing here"?
"We're here celebrating" Eliza said, putting her arm around me
"What are you celebrating?"
Everyone looked at me. "I came out to them today." I smiled at him, and then looked at everyone.
"Well that is something worth celebrating. Well, what can I get you guys?"
Alex squinted his eyes at the menu. "Do you need me to read you the menu since you're obviously blind?"
John read the menu to Alex, who clearly needed glasses but refused to ever get a pair.

We all ate our food, and payed. We all started to get up to leave when we heard yelling across the restaurant.

*John POV*
"What the.. Stay here, I'll go see what's going on."
I walked to the back of the restaurant. Someone was in the ground. It was John Ada,s. Thomas was standing over him, yelling at him.
"Thomas! Get the fuck off him!" I helped John up and he ran to the kitchen.
"John, what the fuck is your problem? You just seem to show up everywhere I go now, huh?"
"Please, I would rather be anywhere else than near your ugly ass."
"Why don't you just get out of here before I do what I did to your boyfriend."
"I'll leave when you stop assaulting the waiters and be a decent person."
He took a step forward and grabbed my collar. "Listen here you fag, go crawl back under the dumpster where you belong."
James walked out of the bathroom and saw what was happening. He ran over and pulled Thomas off me. "THOMAS! WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM. I TOLD YOU TO STOP WITH THIS BULLSHIT. GO SIT DOWN." Thomas backed off and sat down at their table. James turned around to face me. "I'm sorry John. I've been trying to help him with his anger issues. Are you okay?"
I straightened my shirt. "Yeah, I'm fine. You might want to check on Adams though. I came over here because there was yelling. When I got here, John was in the ground and Thomas was screaming at him."
James sighed and rubbed his temples. "I'll go check on him, and I'll have another chat with Thomas about this. Thanks"
I turned around and started towards our table, but I saw that everyone was outside waiting for me. I walked outside and everyone looked at me.
"What happened?" Angie walked up to me, noticing my neck was a little red.
"Jefferson. James broke it up though. He pushed John down and I yelled at him for being a dick to him. He grabbed my shirt and then James came out of the bathroom and ripped him off me. He said he was going to talk to Thomas about shit like that."
"Are you okay?" Angie touched my neck.
"I'm fine, he didn't hurt me."
"Well that's good." She said.
"Come on, let's get out of here. Do you guys wanna watch a movie?"
"We can watch it in Laf and my room, we have the biggest living room so there would be enough room for everyone." Herc looked at Laf, making sure it was okay.
"Yeah, sounds like a plan."

A/N I got my haircut and I cant stop playing with it. Its so soft and my head hurts from rubbing it and pulling it.
