A man clad in a black trench coat and hat showed up at the wolves' headquarters in the outskirts of Seoul, where production was made and all deals were sealed. Taeil, beta of the dholes called for his hyung with a hand placed on the gun that had been stored on the under side of his desk. Baekhyun immediately emerged from his office and had a word with the man. After he explained who he was, Baekhyn led him into the office that belonged to their alpha--Do Kyungsoo.
"Alpha," Baekhyun knocked on the door and cleared his attention. Kyungsoo always caught the way the word rolled awkwardly out of their mouths. They all still felt that Junmyeon was their real alpha, even though he didn't want the position back. "Someone is here to see you. He says you hired him last week."
Kyungsoo nodded, "Yeah. Let him in, and please close the door on your way out."
The beta nodded and stepped aside to allow the man into the room. He carried a briefcase with him and walked inside, setting the briefcase on the table and taking a seat. Baekhyun closed the door behind himself and Kyungsoo fidgeted nervously, adjusting the tie around his neck that was beginning to feel like a noose.
"What do you have for me?" He asked the man.
The man pressed on both sides of his briefcase and the locks sprang open. Inside were filed with pictures and information about other clients. The one at the very top was the one he was looking for, since he had made sure to be prepared. He pulled out a manila folder with the name Do Jagi, for the sake of having a name to write on the file, since they didn't exactly know what her name was. Her file was empty, except for the one sheet of paper that he had Kyungsoo fill out with every detail he knew about her. There weren't many. Found her dying in an alley. Lost her memory. Remembers talking on the phone with someone before she was attacked.
"I checked all local obituaries and police stations." The detective explained. "No one with her description was ever reported dead or missing. Her family never searched for her. That can mean that she either had no family, or--"
"Or they're part of an organized crime group." Kyungsoo concluded absently.
The detective gave a nod of his head. "From the medical records provided from her injuries, it looks like whoever attacked her, was aiming to kill her. That supports the theory that her family may have been part of a mob group."
"That doesn't really help us." The alpha said, growing a bit frustrated. Part of him wanted to help her find her family. But the other part of him wanted to find out the truth, so that he could conceal it and keep her by his side. "There are more than five other crime groups in the immediate surrounding areas. The dholes--who are our younger subdivision, our allies the jackals, our rivals the coyotes, the panthers, the coven, and the nightmares. And then there's the possibility that she might be from a mob outside Korea."
He already knew which of them he could rule out. The dholes were all-male and were a subdivision of the pack. They had all met Jagi and none looked like they recognized her from anywhere. The jackals were all-male as well, and were allies of the wolves. If they ever had a female members, the wolves would have heard of it. The coven was the same. That left three possible leads, the coyotes, the panthers who an all-female gang, and the nightmares. The nightmares operated from Japan now, but he didn't want to rule out any possibilities.
"I've poked around, asked my sources what they're heard on the streets." The detective informed him. "And I have two possible leads."

After the incident with Baekhyun's father, Miran thought they would forget all about visiting family. But she was proved wrong when he took her to a familiar place. It was the house where her family lived, and where she used to live before they gave her to the pack as though she were an item.
"Why are we here, Light?" She tore her eyes away from her house to look at Baekhyun.
"Because I was wrong to say those things to you, that time we went to my parents' house." He began with a sigh and a clear hint of remorse in his words. "I was greedy and jealous and terrified that you would leave and never come back. So I tried to scare you into not wanting to see your family. And I feel horrible about that, and I'm very sorry. The truth is your family might react like my father did, and they might not. If they still care about you and want to keep you in their lives, I don't want to stop you from seeing them. Just...please come back to us. You can visit them whenever you want. But we're your family too."
Miran bit down on her lip for a moment as the words tore at her heart. She had been suffering being away from her parents while Baekhyun had been afraid that she would leave the pack. Both of them had been selfish, and she was thankful that he was able to tell her how he felt.
Leaning forward and closing the small space between him in the car, Miran took him by surprise when she pressed her lips to his softly. Just a little peck, but he felt every emotion behind it.
When she pulled away, she stroked his face with her hand and said to him, "Thank you for doing this, Light. You said you would be my strength when no one was around to defend me, and you have really proved it." Opening the door to her side of the car and stepping out onto the sidewalk, she added with a bright smile. "I'll just be a few minutes and I promise I'll come right back."
He nodded, forcing a smile onto his face.
She closed the passenger side door and walked up the concrete path that led to the door of the house. Baekhyun watched her, never tearing his eyes away. A part deep in the selfishness of his heart hoped no one would be home, or that she would just change her mind altogether, and come back to the car. But he willed those thoughts away, knowing that Miran would never be happy if she were unable to see her former family again.
Baekhyun had once loved someone deeply and she was taken away from him. He didn't want the same to happen to him again, but with Miran.

i haven't updated this story in a while.
so here is a new chapter for you all, even though its a bit shorter than the ones i've been writing for this story lately. this story is so close to reaching 7k reads, and that makes me very happy. thank you all loads for all the support you have given lotto, as well as many of my other stories.
