"No news?" Jin asked his younger colleague, who had gone out to search the area. It had been months, but there was still a sliver of hope in them that told them if they tried hard enough, they would find what they were looking for.
Jimin opened the door to the passenger side of the car and heaved a sigh as he climbed inside, shutting the door to the bullet proof vehicle behind him. He shook his head with bad news, a downcast look on his face. That little sliver of hope was getting smaller with each passing day. He wasn't even sure now why he still held on. Jin could, he had a better reason, but him? His other friends told him in secret--whenever Jin wasn't around--that it was time to give up.
"Nothing." He said to his hyung, shoulders slumped in defeat.
"We'll come back next week, and every week after that until we--"
"Maybe its time to give up." Jimin suggested. Until now, everyone had been afraid to make that suggestion to Jin, given his emotional state. They all worried for him. They thought he wasn't stable enough to hear their opinion on the matter.
Jin gave a vehement shake of his head. "If you want to give up, Jimin, go ahead. I'll keep searching myself." Before he could say anything more, his cellphone rang in his pocket. He got it out to check the notification--a text from Namjoon, the leader of the Coyotes. He slid his thumb over the screen and read the incoming text message. Then he mumbled something to Jimin. "Alpha wants us back at headquarters asap. Says he wants us all to meet for something important he has to tell us."
Jimin nodded his head and Jin started the car, putting it into drive and starting towards the outskirts of Seoul where the night life district was prominent. There, crime was high due to the amount of gangs that wanted the territory. But it was rightfully won by the Bantang Coyotes, whereas most of Seoul was controlled by the Wolves. It was also the area of Seoul that most generated money. That location alone brought in the profits that thirty percent of wolf territory brought in--though it was twice smaller.
The outskirts belonged to the wolves at one point, when they were the most powerful in the area, at a time when they were twelve members. When Yifan allied with the Nightmares and branched out to form the Coven, the Coyotes saw it as their chance to attack.
With half of the members gone, and attacked by surprise on two fronts, the wolves were unable to defend themselves properly. The plan to take all of Seoul failed. But the Coyotes were satisfied with their winnings--the most profitable location that had once been wolf territory. The wolves took about a year to fully recover, and by then a retaliation attack was impossible. The Coyotes had nicely safeguarded the territory and the wolves didn't get those lands back again.
There were always rumors of an attack circling the area, but nothing was concrete.
Jin and Jimin arrived at their Seoul headquarters within fifteen minutes. They were coming in from Wolf territory, which they snuck into to look for something that had been lost there. Even though there was a chance they'd be captured by the wolves, they didn't care and continued risking their lives by going into enemy territory week after week.
They entered the building and made their way to the meeting room where everyone else was already waiting for them. "Where were you guys?" Their alpha wondered, looking at the time on his phone screen before stuffing it into his pocket.
"Running some errands." Jimin replied awkwardly.
They both knew that their alpha knew exactly where they were, and that they should have been punished for it--exposing themselves and putting themselves in danger. But Namjoon cared a lot about Jimin. They were very good friends and had been for several years. It was the reason Jin was his second in command, even though his nature was far from that of a killer. He didn't have the heart for that sort of thing. Neither did Taehyung, which was why their positions in the gang involved little to no actual fighting.
Namjoon nodded his head, not believing their lie in the slightest, but also not calling them out on it. Jin and Jimin looked at each other in relief before they went to the table to take their seats. Jin's seat was sight next to Namjoon's, while Jimin was to sit in between Taehyung and Yoongi.
"Jin," Namjoon called after a moment, and everyone looked to him as well. "Have you gotten any word from Lu Han, or anyone else in the coven?" Since Jin was a beta, he couldn't directly get in touch with Wu Yifan, out of respect for ranks. But he could communicate with Lu Han, since they were equals. Jin could communicate with anyone in Yifan'ss coven that he wanted, since they were all of equal or lesser rank than he was. But he could not communicate with Yifan himself, only Namjoon could do that.
The beta gave a shake of his head. "I have not heard from Lu Han in weeks."
Namjoon hissed in annoyance, though it was not directed at his beta, but rather the Coven. "Those guys said they were interested in forming an alliance with us, and now they won't even talk to us."
"I heard that he's making secret deals with the Nightmares from Fukuoka." Yoongi spoke up, offering the information that he had recently gotten.
Jin could imagine just how Yoongi had gotten that information--most likely through threats. He was their gang's highly skilled assassin, and though he was normally lazy and lacking energy to do anything, it seemed like he would come alive whenever they had any mission that involved taking out enemies. He also more often than not used his skills to get crucial information that was helpful to their gang.
"Get us in touch with the nightmaresi." Namjoon said to Jin, and the beta nodded his head. He finished with, "If he keeps putting off the attack on the wolves, we should just fucking do it ourselves."
Their meeting that had lasted only about ten minutes, was now dismissed.
