Broken
Seashore will always be my beloved place. Here, alone. Walking barefoot on the white sand, feeling its grittiness on my feet. I can't help but closed my eyes as my hair blew because of the north eastern wind freezing my cheek. I smiled, as always. This place can take all my worries away. As I open my eyes slowly, my favorite subject on painting filled my eyes. I'm always in awe and mesmerize as I watched the magnificent horizon that I longed to see whenever I am in the city. I'll be forever in love with this beauty. Sighting, I missed my mom.
"Ma'am Traiva." someone called me.
I turned around to see Yaya Jenny walking towards me. She's one of our loyal housemaid and caretaker of this island.
"Sir Conrad is looking for you."
I chuckled immediately as I heard what she said.
"Tell Papa I'm just here. Hindi ako mawawala. I'll go there later pagkatapos magpahangin." I said to her. She's already working here since my father bought this island and probably now she's already on her early thirties. My father offered her a job in the city because she has been working for us for quite some time, but she declined because she does not want to be away from her child, and her hometown is only an island away. Yeah right, that's a motherly love you cannot break.
"Sige po, Ma'am." she nodded and then turned her back at me to walk back to the mansion.
Prim and proper daughter, as what they call me. Well, I'm not denying it, I guess it's true. Since the day my father brought me in his world. I'd look at him so much that the least thing I wanna do is to disappoint him.
The sound of the small waves made me turn around again, I sighed as the memories of me and my mom filled my mind.
I remember I was five years old back then and I'm waiting for her on the shed to pick me up after school. She's always late. So I had time to watch the other children my age go to their parents or their sundo excitedly.
"Dadddddy!" someone screamed. I turned to see who it was, recognizing that it was my classmate. She dramatically went to her father, and her father kneeled and tightly hugged her. They laughed. They looked really happy.
I smiled, weakly. I'm envious. Really envious. Remembering my other classmates telling me that I'm kawawa because I don't have a daddy makes me wanna cry but I don't want my mom to know what I felt. She's always tired after work and I don't want to be a burden to her.
"Princess," a familiar voice said. That soft voice is music to my ears. As soon as I saw her, I grinned.
"Mommy!" I ran to her and hugged her hips.
"I'm sorry, baby. Mommy is late again because I got involved in a traffic jam." she smiled warmly and knelt down, her palms on my cheek, caressing it.
"It's okay, Mommy. I understand and your work is far."
"Oh really? My little tall girl is really smart and understanding, huh?" she laughed on what she said.
I pouted when I heard the word tall. Compared to my classmates especially to girls, I'm quite taller than them. My height can be compared to those grade school students and unfortunately I'm still on my kindergarten. Apart from not having a father, the reason I don't have many friends is that they told me they are intimidated and scared of my height!
Kinuha ni Mommy ang bag ko. Napatingin ulit ako sa classmate kong kasama ang daddy niya at habang kumakain sila ng ice cream.
"Traiva? Do you want something?" Mommy asked.
"Hmm, daddy." I said and then I realized what I said. Tiningnan ko agad si mommy. I noticed her look shift to my classmate before returning to me and meeting my gaze.
