Strong willed, smart, beautiful, funny and talented were a few of the adjectives that described Maddeline. After going through a hard time in her early twenties, she found the right place where she could be herself and didn't need to have people fin...
Zach walked through the door with Rebecca hanging on his arm. The music was loud, the lights were bright and the bodies moved in perfect harmony with the sound on the dance floor.
"We have to meet them in the VIP area." Zach shouted to Rebecca over the music as he looked around.
"Okay, but where is that?" she asked, standing on her tip toes to reach his ear with ease.
"In the back." He pointed to the other side of building, across the crowded dance floor, where a few tables stood, surrounded by sofas of a midnight blue color.
Occupying one those tables were the other boys, accompanied by Josh and Maddeline. The couple walked hand in hand until they reached said table.
"Hey everyone." Zach nodded, pulling Rebecca to sit next to him. Next to him was Nate, who had his body as close to Josh as possible while sitting next to him.
Everyone greeted back, but he barely noticed, because his attention had been completely taken by Maddeline as she moved her hands to help express herself as she spoke with Michael. She was wearing a sleeveless pink dress, tight around the waist and ending just above her knees, and he could not, for the life of him, stop looking at her. How was it possible that she had become even more beautiful and entrancing?
"So, had any trouble getting here?" Nate spoke to him, breaking Zach off his trance.
"Oh, no. It was relatively easy." Rebecca perched in, looking ecstatic and in love with the place. "But can I know why such a big hassle with this place? Are we celebrating something?"
Nate gulped, scratching the back of his neck, stumbling with his words for a few seconds as he tried to find a suitable answer for the girl.
"Oh, that, right." He laughed, looking uncomfortable. "It's the opening. The owner invited us personally." He shrugged and turned back to Josh, whispering on Josh's ear.
"What was that about?" Rebecca asked Zach, intertwining their fingers and gluing herself to him.
"I have no idea. I don't even know who the owner is." He shrugged, looking around the room hoping to find a familiar face he could associate as the owner of the discotheque.
"Baby, come dance with me." Rebecca asked, pulling at Zach's hand to his annoyance.
"You know I don't dance, Becca..." he exhaled deeply. "Even less tot his kind of music."
"But Zach, please, I really want to dance and I don't want to go there and be the only person dancing on her own..." she whined, making Zach sigh in annoyance.
A voice, sweet and melodic, came from the other side of the table, making Zach's heart beat faster on his chest and run his tongue across his bottom lip.
"I'll go dance with you."
"Really Maddie?" Asked Rebecca, with an enthusiastic scream.
"Of course. Come on then."
As the two girls moved to join the mass of bodies on the floor, Zach kept his eyes locked on them, afraid of loosing sight of them for more than a blinking second.
The music changed to something slower, more sensual, and the girls quickly picked up the pace and begun moving to the sound, together, smiling and ever so often talking with each other.
Zach was frozen in place, watching as they moved, as their hips worked and how they never missed a beat. Unconsciously, his mind focused on Maddeline, erasing the movement around her as if in a movie, Rebecca completely out of his mind as if she had never been there in the first place.
Maddeline moved to the sound, rolling her hips and running her hands through her hair and licking her lips before singing along to whatever song was playing on at the moment, and Zach was completely sucked into a memory of a time when he used to be right next to her, moving along to the same beat, singing along to the music on her ear, his body glued to hers, arms around each other and souls just as close as their skin.
"She looks different, doesn't she?" asked Nate, breaking him off his fantasy.
"Yeah, she does, but purple suits her." He said, eyes still fixating the dancing girl.
"Everything suits her as long as she wants it to."
"I didn't." he mumbles.
"You chose not to." Nate said before leaving him with the guilt of knowing it was true.
