Maddeline kept dancing with Rebecca as the night dragged on. Currently, she was spinning the other girl as they both laughed, singing along the lyrics.
She tried to keep the table on her line of vision, hoping her friends were having as much fun as she was. Hard as it was, she had to admit that Rebecca was not bad company, a little whiny and annoying, but bearable.
"So, you want something to drink?" Maddeline asked Rebecca as she moved to the bar, pulling the other girl behind.
"Sure. But I don't have any money on me!" Rebecca grumbled. Maddeline laughed and kept pulling her by the hand.
"Don't worry about that. Tequila shots?" she asked as a radiant smile appeared on her face as they reached the bar. "Hey handsome!" she called the barman.
"What can I get you, darling?" the man asked.
Rebecca could not take her eyes of the guy. He was really good looking, good enough to eat and beg for more, with long, dark hair pulled into a bun, green eyes and a five o'clock shadow on his jaw.
"Hey Maddie?" Rebecca pulled at Maddeline's arm, making her turn around to face her and nod in acknowledgement. "You're single, right?"
"Yes. I've been for a while now." She said, shrugging and facing the bar again, where their shots had just been poured. "Thank you!" she yelled after the barman that had already moved on to another client.
"Why don't you try and get a guy tonight?" Rebecca asked, taking her shot glass of the bar. "The bar dude kept smiling at you..."
"That's not really my think, you know? I'm more of a committed relationship kind of person..." she shrugged yet again, grabbing her own shot and a slice of lemon.
The two of the clicked their glasses together and downed the clear liquid before biting the lemon slice, moving together to the table after.
As they walked through the dance floor, Maddeline couldn't help to notice how Zach was following their movements as he had before, when they were dancing, and she felt a strong pang on her chest as she noticed the loved up look he gave Rebecca, the same longing look he used to get when looking at her.
They reached the table and claimed back their seats and Maddeline looked down at her hands, trying to get out of her mind the feeling she got when she saw Zach looking at Rebecca the way he used to look at her, until an arm rested over her shoulders and pulled her closer to a strong chest.
"Are you feeling okay? Did Rebecca do or say something to you?" Michael asked, lips glued to her ear, hand rubbing circles on her exposed skin.
"I'm fine. She didn't do anything, she's actually kind of sweet, a little annoying, but sweet none the less." She admitted. "It's just... the way he looked at her when we were coming back here, it brought back come memories, but I'm fine now. So, see anyone you'd like to take home?" she changed the subject, making Michael sigh and shake his head before smiling down at her and starting to playfully nudged her as they spoke.
                              *
Across the table, Rebecca was not so subtly pointing the pair and telling Zach how good they looked together, and what a great couple they would make, making Zach's blood boil and make him throw a glare across the table at his band mate with and arm still around Maddeline.
