Beeping.
Maddeline could hear something beeping and she just kept wishing for it to stop. Her head hurt, her all body hurt actually and she just wanted something to make the pain stop.
Then she heard it, a low, raspy voice, singing. She could almost feel the pain fading as he kept on singing, and then she felt a warm hand caressing her face softly as he kept on singing and she understood, he was singing to her.
Somehow, the voice was familiar, the touch was familiar, he was familiar. Maddeline wanted nothing more than to open her eyes and be able to see him, because even though he felt familiar, she could not put a face nor a name to him.
All of a sudden, silence, but not for long. More voices, familiar voices, warm touches, but still no names, no faces.
A bang. Something hitting a wall. Someone yelling. The pain was back, the louder he spoke, that one unfamiliar voice, more pain came back to her.
Silence, everything was turning silent again, and she could no longer feel the warm hand holding hers and she was scared, really scared.
