Ryland's POV
I got home to see Shaylee at the door waiting for me. I get out of the Uber and she runs to me and hugs me. She started to cry. I pulled her head to my chest.
"Shhh.. We know how Dad is, he's always a survivor. He won't leave!" I said as I started to cry. We slowly bent down onto the driveway, sobbing. We layed on the cold pavement.
We went inside and just looked at pictures of our vacations. We've went to a few places. Every time we have gone somewhere it's to celebrate something, and that's not often.
Shay was laying on my chest, while we watched Shane's old videos. I don't know why. It kinda calmed us down.
A few hours later, we both fell asleep on the couch. We both woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. We both stare at each other as I answer it.
"H-Hello?" I trembled.
"Hi, is this Ryland Adams?" A woman asked.
"Yes..."
"Hi sir, this is Melanie Cateaux, I'm a nurse at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. I'm calling to tell you some information requiring Shane Yaw."
"Please tell me! Is my baby okay?" I felt tears start to form in my eyes.
"He has some injuries... some minor and some major.." She paused and continued. "The most minor injury is that his left wrist is broken, not bad. Just a little fracture. He has a few broken ribs, and the big one.." My heart stopped. "Shane's left leg was punctured. A piece of medal right next to his bone. It barley missed an artery. We will have to do surgery on his leg, just because the medal punctured him with so much force the plate and some screws in his leg were detached. Other than that he has a pretty bad concussion."
"Is he awake?" I asked as Shay looked at me worried.
"No he is not. He asked to be put under so he wouldn't feel us cleaning out his wounds."
