The Prophecy- Book 1

Chapter Four

As we entered the General's office we lined up and gave the mandatory solute. There were a few other people from the base there as well. I was not sure what their names were. Altogether there were about six people crammed in the tiny room.

"At ease soldiers!" He stood up. "Now Angel has filled me in on your training this morning." I gave a quick glance to Angel, surprised he told anyone. The general continued, "So much has changed over the years, and it's time we filled you in on what we know." I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. What was he talking about?

The general was not normally one for speeches, but I felt one was coming. So, I stayed quit, wondering what he wanted to talk about.

The general clasped his hands behind his back, "Now you know of the Self-proclaimed emperor of the universe." It was not a question. Everyone knew of him. "Well here is what you don't know, there was a race on a planet called Dotrao. They were wiped out though, because they refused to help the Emperor. Not much is known about them, what we do know, is that they had this ability to see into the future, as well as connect with people via telepathy, and plant images into one's mind. The emperor wanted exploit these abilities to make his hold on the universe stronger. When they refused to help, he destroyed their whole planet. Thankfully before they perished they were able to get a message out to us." He paused a moment and looked at Angel. "They sent that message to Angel. He is one of the other persons who has been trusted with the truth." Now he fixed his stare on me. "Until now."

Trying not to squirm under his stare. I glanced around the room. The other members in the room were looking at each other trying to figure out what he was talking about as well.

"You Ashlynn McCloud, are the last of the royal line. You are the lost princess the one who disappeared." He continued, studying my reaction.

My jaw literally dropped open, I snapped it closed. My eyes wondering to the other faces in the room. Everyone looked just as shocked as I was. Everyone except Angel of course. But he already knew, and somehow managed to keep it a secret this whole time. A flash of anger at having been kept in the dark about my heritage came over me.

"I realize you have questions, but let me explain the rest. The reason why I told you about Dotrao was because, before they died they sent us an urgent message, though incomplete, they ingrained into Colonel Angels head. You were just born so you were too young I suppose. The message read, 'That girl that was just born, will be our princess, it has been seen and it shall pass. You must tell her and you must train and protect her. Prepare her. Then, find the other, a dracon.' That girl was you, the princess. The dracon we are unsure about, since the known dracon still alive is the assassin named Rayven. But we must believe that another survived. If not, then perhaps he is not as faithful as we thought."

The general turned staring at his musty old books on the shelf he kept. "The reason we kept it a secret for so long was because we did not want word getting around, and the Emperor destroy us. Not to mention, kill you. The last remaining descendent to the throne."

He turned back to us. "If you have any questions you may speak freely."

I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing came out. I had so many questions, but no idea where to begin. My head was swirling with thoughts.

A concerned look crossed the General's face. "You may sit down if you like your highness. You are no longer a soldier, you are the last of the royal line. The rightful leader of our people." I eagerly sat down, my legs feeling wobbly.

"So, does that mean my mother is the queen?" Was the first question that came out.

"No, Martha was your mother's midwife and close friend. She revoked her rights to have a family and chose to raise you as her own." A grave expression crossed his face. "It pains me to tell you, that your mother died after she gave birth to you."
