I watched her leave out of the corner of my eye, then turned back to the soldier who was talking to me. "Listen Ren I would love to stay and chat, but I have a meeting with the General. Maybe another time." I told him, and left not waiting for a response.

During the fight, I had just remembered that I was supposed to meet up with him. It was rare for me to forget something like that. Which is how had caught me off guard. She was not strong enough to beat me, though she did somehow possess more strength then the average human.

Picking up my pace, I checked the time. Inwardly groaning at how late I was going to be.

Finally making it to the general's office, I took a deep breath, and walked in, giving the mandatory solute. Though we were technically a small military base, everyone here was more like a large family, and unless with the General we rarely engaged in traditional military customs. We were here mostly to ensure the safety of the princess.

"At ease soldier." He said while looking through the blinds in his office, one hand behind his back. Then he turned to me. "As you know Princess Ashlynn McCloud is now 18. It is time to tell her. She has been improving in her training has she not? Speak freely."

"Yes, sir. She even managed to get the upper hand on me today." I said.

"Good, I want to gather the council today. Do you want to tell her or would you like me too?" He said meeting my gaze.

"You sir. She will already be mad at me. I have kept this secret for far too long. It has been difficult. "I said lower my gaze.

"I realized this, you two have become close, haven't you?" He asked.

"Yes, we are good friends. Hopefully one day she can forgive me."

"I think she will. Probably sooner than you think. I will take full blame for keeping it from her." Then he gave a hard stare. "If she would have known then everyone else would have too. You know, that is right?" It was a rhetorical question, and he continued. "If anyone else found out about her, we would have risked her being assassinated. We had to do what it took to keep her safe."

I let out a sigh. "I realize this sir. I do not regret sneaking her out that day. I do not regret hiding her from everyone." I clenched my fist. "I just don't like knowing she may hate me for it."

The General walked over and put his hand on my shoulder. "I know this my boy. You gave up everything to protect her. It was smart of you to tell me. Even smarter to want to keep a secret tell the time came. That's why you became her personal body guard. You're the one who can keep her safe. Also, one more thing. What do you think of the Dracon? Do you think it's the assassin? Should we tell her about him?"

"We tell her everything we know. And I hope for everyone's sake, that it's not him. He is dangerous." I told him honestly.

"Alright you are dismissed, bring her hear as soon as you locate her." We saluted and I turned on my heal and left.

The Dracon was going to be one of the hardest parts to the puzzle. It was so long ago that I had been told about this. I was a boy. I recounted everything I remembered them saying to the General after I hid her. My mother took care of her for a little while tell we worked something else out. Now it was finally time to come clean. I headed to Avril's, Ash was most likely there with her.

Years had passed since the day that I had received the message. I had thought I had gone crazy. But since the king had been killed by the emperor, so he could put his own council on to reign over us, I did not want to take any risks. When I sought out the General, and told him about the voices in my head. He took her in until he could find someone he could trust to raise. Then he created this small place. He told them it was just a training base.
