I soon as night fell and the ship was mostly dead, I slowly snuck out. Either no one noticed or they did not care. Which did not bother me. For once I was free. Once outside I felt the cold wind envelope my body. I did not mind. The fresh air was amazing. I walked a while away from the ship trying to find a good spot. My inner dragon exited and clamoring to be let loose.
I smiled as I was finally able to shift. It was a seamless transition for me. At first learning to shift was painful, but with training the pain no longer mattered as the feeling of finally being free took hold. My sense of smell and eyesight became overwhelmingly powerful. I dove into the trees and flew back up into the sky. I stayed clear of the ship, I did not want them to see me like this.
I closed my eyes as I felt the wind on my scales, and soared through the air. Rarely while forced to work for emperor was I able to just soar. Normally he only wanted me to shift so I could demolish cities with my fire breath. It has always been just to destroy. I had grown weary of it, as had my dragon half. For once I had the freedom to fly without having to killing anyone.
Free, the idea seemed so surreal to me. Like it was not true and was stuck in a dream, I never wanted to wake from. I wished I could share this new found freedom with someone, but for now I wanted to enjoy it myself. Soon enough we would destroy the emperor, and I could truly be free. My people avenged. No the whole universe avenged.
I let out a roar into the sky and blew and fire breath. I decided it was time to head in, not really wanting to end the night. I had things to do the next day though. Perhaps I would change up the training a little bit with Ashlynn. Training on the ship had begun to grow boring. If she was part dracon, she would enjoy and outing.
How to sneak out though? That was going to be the hardest part. People always seemed to be watching. Yet, perhaps if we could sneak out when the shifts switched. It would be early. We would need food and things.
As I neared the ship I landed in the cover of the forest and shifted back into my human form. Luckily my clothes had been specially made so they adjusted to the size of my dragon form. I had them done so I would always have to strip or run around naked after transforming back. I only wore them though, when I knew I would be changing. I boarded the ship and went back to my room before anyone noticed I was gone. I grabbed a basket and put everything we would need in it and hid next to the exit, so we could make a quick getaway before anyone noticed.
It was already time to wake up Ashlynn, I had not realized I had stayed out so late. I headed to her room.

I was awoken by someone rudely poking my side. I stirred, and blinked a few times tell the figure took shape. It was Rayven.
"Why do I have to get up it's early." I groaned trying to roll over and ignore him. Apparently, I forgot to lock my door.
I heard a chuckle behind me.
"Let's go and explore the world and train out there. It will be a lot more fun I promise." He almost sounded giddy at the idea. Him giddy. I must be dreaming. Then I felt my blankets being pulled off my body, the chill of the air causing my body to get goose bumps. I curled up trying to hold in my body heat.
Still feeling the chill I groaned again, and sat up... "Ok just get out and let me get changed please." I looked down and realized all I was wearing was a tank top and very small pair of shorts. I tried to pull them down, trying to make them cover more.
Rayvens silence made me look up. He was staring at me. I felt my face go hot, and I jumped up and began shoving him out of my room.
"Get out you perv." I yelled. He complied and walked out, closing the door behind him.
