Once we arrived at his room, he dragged me inside and locked the door behind us. Then her turned to me. "Seriously Ash what were you thinking? He is dangerous. Its reckless to just go off with a loose cannon like him." He sounded jealous.
I yanked my hand free, realizing he still held it in his hand. "Rayven is not as bad as you think. He and I have, sort of, become friends."
"Friends? Do even think he is capable of being friends with anyone. The guy is messed up. You can't live how he has lived and not be." He fumed.
I let out a slow breath, "yeah I know, he has said almost the same thing. But he is not all bad."
Angel got in my face. "You really think that. You really think that he will just hang out with you and play house or something. No, you're not allowed to be alone with him ever!"
I scowled at him. "You really think you can dictate my life?"
"I will tell you what to do until you start making smart choices. Cause so far you have been reckless and..."
"Stupid! Is that what you were about to call me? You not my dad, your just my body guard." my scowl turned in a snarl.
His face scrunched up as if I had hit him. "Ash look I am sorry. I..."
"I have heard enough Angel." I waved my hand dismissively and turned to storm out. I was stopped abruptly by Angel grabbing my hand. He pulled me to him in a hug, stroking my head.
"Ash I just care about you. You know that. It's just seeing you with him, it makes me so angry, and makes me worry too. I don't know what he wants with you. But if anything ever happened to you...I" He stopped unable to finish.
I wrapped my arms around him, and laid my head on his chest, breathing in his scent. I felt my body relax. "I hate arguing all the time Angel. What happened to us?"
He sucked in a breath. "It's gotten complicated."
"We have? Or you have?" I pulled back and looked him the eye.
He pulled away and went to sit on his bed, leaning over covering his face. "Both, I guess." Then, he stood again, rubbing his hand through his hair. Turning back to me he, "look Ash I love you." He finally said
I was stunned. I stood their staring at him like he had just grown another head. I knew he liked me, but love was a very strong word to use. Especially when I was not sure how I felt. Yeah, I liked him a long time ago. He was my first crush. Well I guess technically, my only crush. Then, Rayven came into the picture, oh and the whole I have to save the universe thing. Which kind of takes precedents over everything else.
As much as I love to spend time with Angel, he is nothing more than a friend to me. Then again, Angel was the better man. Rayven could outright evil. He had killed so many people. He was everything a woman should stay away from. Yet, I felt inexplicably drawn to him. Like a moth to the light.
I gave Angel a long look. I studied his features. His perfect high cheek bones, the way his short hair was always messy like he just got out of bed. His perfectly chiseled body, that begged for admiration. Lastly, I looked into his sweet brown eyes, that were currently filled with uncertainty and something else. Was that fear? Was he scared? Of what, my rejection?
"Angel, I care for you." I walked over to him and put a hand gently on his cheek. He closed his eyes. "I am just not sure if I am in love with you. I want so badly to choose you. But right now if I have to choose, it would not be you. Please give me time Angel. I need time to sort everything out." Then, I leaned in and gave a kiss on the forehead.
