We finally entered the command center. Which was basically just a room with a huge table, and chairs all around it. Most of them were already full. Except for one. Which was at the other end.
Avril was there standing near the only chair. She smiled and waved at me. This helped me to feel a little more at ease, I grinned and waved back to her. Then she motioned for me to sit.
I Rushed to the chair, feeling nervous as all eyes were on me.
Angel stayed close by my side. Even when I sat down he stood to my right, Avril on my left, and slightly back, with their hands behind their back, I guess they did not get chairs.
I looked around seeing who else was in there. The General sat directly across from me. I recognized some that were there during my briefing about the situation. Others I had never seen before.
Everyone stared at me expectantly, or with puzzled stares. Curious as to who their princess is. I was not sure what they expected, and I hoped I measured up. I doubted it though. Being a princess had been the last thing on my mind.
I tried to sit up as straight as I could, but honestly, I felt like shrinking away and trying to hide. I was not used to so much attention. It was nerve wracking. I looked over my shoulder at Angel, he smiled reassuringly at me. I blushed remembering the kiss earlier.
The General cleared his throat. "If the lady pleases, I have already briefed everyone on the situation, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask them anytime, your highness." He paused to give me moment if I wanted to ask anything, and smiled at me. All the years I have known him, I rarely saw him smile, it looked strange on his face. "We would like to begin our strategy for obtaining alliances. I have done some research and would like propose a plan for us."
I looked around trying to hide my unease. I am sure they saw right through it though. Who wouldn't at this point?
"Please do General." I tried my best to hide the trimmer in my voice. My voice came out as a squeak though.
"Yes, well, our closest trade associate is planet Yarrow." He used a remote to turn on a hologram. Its showed a planet that looked almost completely Yellow, like the deserts on Earth. "They have always been friendly to us, and their equivalent to Secretary of State has agreed to meet with us. We must go under disguise so no one recognizes us. We will join him for dinner and discuss our mission." He paused waiting for my reaction.
"That sounds like a start. However, what of this Dracon? Have you any news about him?" I looked at the general my curiosity getting the best of me.
"No, your highness." He took in a deep breath, and continued. "So far, the only Dracon left is the Emperor's Assassin, but do not worry we are searching. We have teams out trying to gain intelligence."
"So, who is to go speak on our behalf on Planet Yarrow?" I questioned.
Another person cleared their throat to gain attention. It was a woman in what looked like her late thirties.
"I am Captain Shelly, and I have volunteered to go, along with the General." She looked at me expecting me to agree.
However, I did not. As the Princess, this was my job. To many people have already risked their lives. It was time I risked mine.
"Do I have a say in the matter?" I asked them.
Everyone nodded, and some said of course.
"I will go. It's my duty to secure these alliances. I have to make them believe that the cause is worth fighting for, right?" They all looked at me in surprise. "I feel that if I go it will help them to see that I am willing to do whatever it takes."
