Rose

The next week, I'm walking along the school hallways, feeling glum. Me and Abel haven't spoken to each other since Saturday.

I'm still annoyed with the fact that he told me to stop hanging out with Jeremy, just because I held his hand. How petty is that? And saying that I wasn't committed to our relationship? That just annoyed me even more.

I feel someone tapping on my shoulder. I turn around, about to snap at the person, before I realise who it is. Jeremy's green eyes stare back at me and he grins.

"Jeremy?" I question. "What are you doing here?"

"Surprise!" he says back.

"Um, yeah, one heck of a surprise!" I say. He folds me into a warm hug. I untangle myself from him and look at him seriously. "No, but seriously, what are you doing here?"

"I transferred," Jeremy answers back simply.

"What?"

"Yup," he says, nodding and smiling. "Your wish is granted now!" I shoot him a confused look. "You know, when you said that you wished I came to your school."

I shove him playfully. "I didn't mean it literally," I say. "So, who do you have first?"

"Some guy called Mr Tesfaye," Jeremy answers. My heart starts racing. Oh, boy. Me and Abel aren't exactly on good terms and it's all because of Jeremy. When Abel sees him, I don't know what he'll do.

"Oh," I say now. "Um, that's my first class, too."

When I enter the class, Abel looks up. He looks as though he's about to say something, but then stops when he sees Jeremy behind me. His facial expression turns sour and my heart starts racing.

"Who are you?" Abel asks, slightly rudely and I suck in my breath.

"Jeremy,"

Abel rolls his eyes. "Jeremy, who?" he snaps.

"Jeremy Sanders."

"Okay," Abel says. "All the seats are taken, but I'm sure you'll find somewhere to sit."

"You can sit next to me," I tell Jeremy and Abel shoots me the coldest look.

I rip my eyes away from his and walk to the back and sit down. Jeremy sits down next me.

"Is he always like this?" Jeremy asks.

"Sometimes," I answer.

"The guy hates me," Jeremy says, scratching his head.

"You and me both," I mutter. "You know, when he first started he gave me detention for not listening. Then I skipped it and got a two hours detention." Jeremy starts laughing and so do I.

"Would you like to let us in on the joke?" Abel snaps from his desk.

The smile falls from my face and I shrug. "Not really, no," I say.

"Then shut up," Abel says. "Or leave the class." I stay silent. I roll my eyes and shake my head. Damn, he's really being an ass right now. I actually can't wait to leave this class.

When the bell rings, I start packing away my things. I could feel Abel shooting me death glares the whole time, but I avoided eye contact.

"Miss Parker?" I hear him say. I don't look up. "Can I talk to you?" I walk to the front and wait for him to start talking, but he doesn't. He shoots Jeremy - who is standing beside me - a death stare. "Is your name Rose? You know where the door is, right? Go on. Get out." Jeremy looks at me before leaving.

I roll my eyes, annoyed at how rude he's being. "Can you make this quick?" I ask impatiently when he doesn't speak for a long time.

"What's he doing here?" Abel wants to know.

"He transferred here," I answer, still not looking him in the eye.

"And don't you find that a bit weird?" Abel questions.

I sigh heavily and roll my eyes. "No," I answer. "Is that all? I should really get going." I start to walk away but he grabs my arm. "What do you want, Abel?"

"I'm sorry, Rose," he says now. "I shouldn"t have acted like that, okay?" I don't say anything. "I was wrong to tell you who you should and shouldn't be friends with. Forgive me?" He pulls that puppy dog face that I call for every time, but I shake my head.

"You're gonna have to do a lot more than that," I tell him finally.

"Like what?"

I roll my eyes. "Figure it out," I say.

"Can you just stop with the eye rolling?" Abel asks and I roll my eyes in answer. He bites his lip. "So are you still coming over?"

"No," I say. "I can't make it today." I can, but I'm just being petty.

He looks hurt. "Okay," he says. "If you change your mind, let me know."

"I won't."
