It was obvious to me and Charlie that I clearly liked him but he respected that I still wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I did like him... a lot, but I'm just scared.
On the other hand, I have been thinking a lot out what my mum said to me. Finding someone like Charlie is such a rare opportunity and I'd be stupid not to do anything. He's perfect. What if now is my only chance to be with him? He might get bored of the waiting around for me and go and find an even better girl to fall in love with. I don't want that to happen. Maybe I need to tell him. Talk things over and let him know how I feel. It's unfair to just keep him waiting like this.
Since the kiss, we had decided to put on a movie. We were currently sat in the corner of the sofa, my head leaning on his shoulder with a large, fluffy blanket draped over both of us to try and shield us from the cold as he had his arm resting around my shoulder.
I was brought out of my trance when a loud crash came from the TV as something happened in the film we were watching causing me to jump in my spot. Charlie let out a laugh before tightening his grip on me slightly, in which I responded with cuddling into his side a bit more.
"Are you even watching this?" Charlie asked me, referring to the film.
"Honestly, no. Are you?" I replied in which he responded with another laugh as he shook his head 'no'.
"I didn't say anything because I thought you were enjoying it!" He told me, causing me to laugh slightly.
"I did the same. I didn't want to say I wasn't enjoying it in case you were and actually wanted to watch it!" I replied as we both began to laugh louder, although we were cautious not to wake up Ryan since he thinks we're asleep right now.
"What do you want to do instead?" He asked me, turning his body so he was facing me more.
I sat up slightly, and just like him, I turned my body a tiny bit to make him better.
"We could just talk, if you wanted?" I suggested in which he smiled a cheesy grin and nodded his head 'yes'.
"Good, because we need to talk..." I told him, turning the atmosphere ever so slightly more serious.
He furrowed his eyebrows in return and shifted his attention fully onto me.
"About what we spoke about the other day..." I proceeded, hoping he'd understand what I was trying to say. However, he just continued to look at me with a blank look.
"Charlie, I like you!" I exclaimed, getting impatient at the fact he didn't take the hints "I like you a lot..." I continued.
Before replying, a humongous smile spread across Charlie's face as I noticed a flicker of something appear in his eyes. I'd never seen him like that before.
"You do?" he asked in disbelief.
"Of course, I do, you idiot! I have done for a while now" I told him as we both laughed.
"How come you needed to think?" He asked, furrowing his eyebrows.
"I didn't need time to think about us, I needed time to think about other people..." I said but just caused even more confusion to wash across his face.
"I was just scared, that's all" I admitted.
"Scared? Scared of what?" He asked, sad filling his voice.
"I was scared of what the fans might think if they found out I liked you, or if we liked each other. They would hate me and I can't even begin to imagine what the hate would be like. I can't go through that, not again. They might think I'm stealing you away or something like that. And, seeing all of the fans the other day when we met loads of them, I couldn't help but think how much better off you would be with them, and not only that but how upset some of them would be. I can promise you from first-hand fangirl experience that when someone's favourite member of a band gets a girlfriend or even a friend that is a girl, drama happens in the fandom" I said, catching my breathe at the end.
"There are so many flaws in what you just said" He told me causing me to furrow my eyebrows.
"For starters, they wouldn't hate on you. There might be the odd few mean comments but the fans are nice and pretty chill, I promise. Secondly, you won't be stealing me" he laughed "and thirdly, I don't care if you think I'm better off with them. I WANT to be with you and I KNOW that I am better off when I'm with you..."
I glanced down at my thumbs to try and hide the fact I was blushing like crazy until I felt Charlie's soft hand gently touch my chin to lift my head up so my gaze met with him. He gently kissed me on the forehead before standing up and suggesting we go to sleep since it was getting quite late.
I couldn't help but smile at the thought of how my life was going right now. Less than a month ago, I was at school feeling like I was worthless and that I didn't belong. Well now here I am, in my front room with my crush who I have just told I liked after he told me he liked me too.
I guess good things do come to those who wait.
