So I don’t trust him.
“Can we talk about it over ice cream?” he asks hopefully, blue eyes curious. “There’s this great-“
“No,” I say instantly, haunted by the images of Sunny and I sitting at a picnic table, swapping funny stories, licking at bubblegum ice cream cones. “No. We stay here or you leave without me.”
He winces. “Y-yeah, sure.”
I nod, motion for the porch swing across from me. He sits down, and takes a long breath. I guess he doesn’t know where to start.
