I find him at the edge of town, staring at the road sign. The edge of the world; his world.

“You're leaving, aren't you?” I ask. “This time for good.”

He jumps, swivels around to face me. His expression says it all; he wasn't going to tell me. Blank faced, surprised, and confused, he runs a hand through his hair-

And I start to cry.

“Gin,” he says, rushing forward. I've already fallen to my knees. The pavement hurts, but the ache in my chest hurts more. He told me he'd come visit. He told me he'd come back home.

“I thought...” I sniffle. “I thought I was your home. Isn't that good enough?”

He kneels down in front of me, pushes hair from my face, wipes my tears away-

and kisses me.
