I never thought that I was going to have my first kiss before marriage. I had intended to stay untouched before saying I do. It never occurred to me that I'd get kissed before I'd get into a real relationship either; but, I have always considered myself highly flexible, and new situations would never faze me. Except for this current scenario with Gio – I couldn't stand experiencing my first kiss when I was playing someone's stand-in in another human being's process of moving on.
It took a while for everything to sink in because she started just like how I had predicted she would – unhurried and apologetic. I wasn't even sure why I had that kind of prediction but I somehow sensed that she was taking her time as if she was asking for forgiveness in advance.
My mouth parted in surprise when I felt her lips on mine and for a split second everything stood still. Until she started tracing my lower lip with her tongue and the world just went fast-forward nearly leaving me befuddled in its wake.
She lifted her face a fraction from mine and I could just picture in my head how I was staring wide-eyed at her.
"May I claim your tongue now, Miss Gokongwei?" she asked, her voice soft and hesitant yet it lulled me into a trance.
She deliberately lowered her head and a part of me wanted to push her away but a greater part was curious – curious how she'd taste like; curious to find out if she was worth sinning.
"This isn't right..." I heard myself whisper.
"Who wants to be right right now?" she whispered back.
"I do..."
"Do you want me to stop?" she gently asked.
"I—"
"Tara na!" Shey's voice felt like a bucket of cold water being dumped over my head
I instinctively pushed Gio away as I ran toward her cousin. "Shey! Tara!" I said swapping the confusion I was experiencing in Gio's bedroom for the clarity and safety of Shey's company.
I saw how Shey's brow arched and I silently prayed that she wouldn't ask questions. She didn't; it was more of a statement than a query really. "My God, nag-kiss kayo?!" she demanded. "Hindi ka talaga makapaghintay, George? You just ruined her make-up. Argh! Wait lang, I'll get my make-up kit—"
"Sasama ako sa'yo!" I urgently said.
Shey instantly frowned. "Are you okay, Moira?"
I vehemently nodded. "Oo!" I answered before I clasped her hand and then pulled her out the door. "Gio, kay Shey na ako sasabay, ha! Magkita na lang tayo d'un sa venue!" I unnecessarily hollered before shutting the door behind us.
"Moira..." Sheila gently called my name out.
I ignored her and just marched forward. "Nasaan ba 'yung make-up kit mo? Nasa loob ba ng unit mo? Halika na kunin na natin. Hindi ko nga pala alam kung saan rito ang unit mo. Ano nga bang unit number mo?" I blabbered.
"Moira..." Gio's cousin stopped walking and I was forced to do the same.
She took both my hands in hers. "What happened? What did George do to you?" she asked, her voice gentle yet firm.
"Ha?"
"Anong ginawa ng pinsan ko sa'yo?" she repeated.
I shook my head. "Wala—"
"Meron. I can feel it. Pareho tayong babae, we should have each other's back," she told me. "You can trust me, Moira. Kahit pinsan ko pa si George kung may ginawa s'yang hindi tama, I am not one to condone mistakes. I am on your side, okay?"
