Chapter 19 - The Gamer

(Y/n)'s P.O.V.

While I was at home in my room, practicing my water bending skills, Kōhaku asked me; "Hey (Y/n), weren't you meeting Alya and Marinette back at school this afternoon to research your term paper?"

"Oh no, I'm late! Again!" I said as I checked my phone the time and the water fell on its own as I was saddened by the time. Then I grab my bag, went down the stairs, ran out to the river, jumped in and swam up to the school. As I arrived there, I dried my tail and ran up to the school.

As I arrive there, I ran into the hall, but I stopped as I heard some noise coming from the library. Kōhaku said; "What's that noise?"

"Hide, Kōhaku!" I said to him. As I went there, I entered the library and saw some students and teachers watching the two players, playing a video game. In the library, I saw Marinette, Alya, Kim, Mylène, Alix, Juleka, Rose, Nathaniel, Nino, Mr Damocles and Ms Bustier. The two players were Max and Adrien. Kim said; "Come on, Max."

As Alya was recording, I went next to Marinette, who was next to Alya, and asked; "What's going on?"

Alya shushes me. Then Rose comes next to me and said; "Try-outs for the Paris Ultimate Mecha Strike III Tournament! This school sends the two students with the highest scores!"

"Actually, the try-outs offer a partner to team up with Max in the Tournament." Kim said from behind us as he leans on my shoulder. I asked; "Why Max?"

"'Cause he's unbeatable! He's a total rock-sword! He's got the highest APM over anyone!" Kim said. I asked him; "APM?"

"Actions per minute? This tournament is his whole life! He's been grinding all year to level up." Kim explained. Then I look back to the screen and Adrien's robot, NAD03, uses his special attack on Max's robot, MX-01. MX-01 is crushed by NAD03, making Adrien winning the game. Everyone cheered on for him, including me and I jumped for joy. Ms. Bustier said; "Adrien is now in the lead."

"What happened, Max?" Kim said to him. At first, Max looked sad as he lowered his head, but then he took a deep breath and said; "Hmm. Awesome job. We're gonna make a killer combo."

"So let me get this straight. If someone manages to beat Max's score, they'll team up with Adrien at the tournament?" I said to them. Kim said; "No one can beat Max. Or rather Max and Adrien. It's a slam dunk. They're our school's dream team!"

Then I was dragged from both of my arms by Alya and Marinette to a book shelf. Marinette said to me; "I see where you're going with this, young lady."

"Just imagine, teaming with Adrien!" I said to them. Then Alya said to me; "Are you out of your mind, girl? This is about stepping up and representing! Not snuggling up and snogging! This is serious business!"

"Seriously Alya, you think I'd actually go through with that?" I said to them. Mr. Damocles' voice was heard as he said; "Well, I think we have our two champions lined up for the Paris tournament."

"Wait! Uh, Is it too late... to try out?" I said as I cut him in. Kim and Rose gasped.

"Well, the library is closing up in five minutes, but..." Mr. Damicles was saying as I head up to one of the seats in front of the screen. I sat down like a lady, with both of my legs on the ground and on the side and my back straight. (You know, like a mermaid) I heard Alya and Marinette say; "Oh, boy..."

"Adrien's joypad! Ohhh...!" I said as he gave me his joypad and placed it on my face. Then I looked around and saw that it was getting weird. Kim said; "Is she serious? There's no way!"
