Today is the signing, George and his fiancé can finally have their dreams house. Some papers just need to be signed and they can finally start their lives with their brand new home. I was there, and I can see the tears and laughter, they are so emotional, well, all of our clients is emotional when it's in Escrow. Its overwhelming.
I help my friends. I help new clients. I have compassion and cares about the world outside of myself, I am about more than my personal benefits and actually takes action to help others. Us. Our team. We help clients, we help people to find their homes.
"Congratulations!"
George hugged me, "Thank you!"
"Don't forget to invite on your house warming party."
"Oo naman!"
I look at George and his fiancé as they walk to the exit of the building. Holding hands, smiling at each other. They look so happy with each other and more happier when they brought their dream house. I felt the happiness inside me too, Before I don't know what I want in life. I was lost. But as days go by, signing, escrow. I find my purpose. I do what I want.
It doesn't matter what happened in the past, if you've been lost, you can still do what you want now and change where you go in the future. People redeem themselves everyday. No matter who you used to be, you can still become the person you want to be.
Pag uwi ko ng apartment ay agad kong nakita si Nicole na nakaupo sa kotse niya na naka park sa parking ng kotse ko. I beep on her. She looked at me with her full face make up. Bakit nakaayos to? She moved her car, and I parked mine.
"What's with your get up?" I opened my apartment door.
"It's Jesse birthday! Duh!" She go straight to my cabinet, "Mag ayos ka na! Hans will pick us!"
We will drive to Lake Tahoe it's a two hour drive from Sacramento that's why we stopped at a Chinese restaurant and eat because we already know that we will be drinking. We arrived at 10pm, sakto lang.
Jesse rented a house here in Tahoe for his birthday celebration. Like every young 20's here in US do that. All around me are faces I recognize, flickering with the strobe: former schoolmates, acquaintances, and even a few "friends" sprinkled in hazily. Guys already playing beer pong, girls already twerking on a table. It is wild, it is crazy. And it's is fun. Ever since I've tried to figure out this bizarre phenomenon. Being in a relationship used to be the cool thing to do and then dating quickly became something that "held you back" from the parties and the fun. Maybe that's why I don't do commitment. I want to be free. I want pure fun.
"The game changed but the players stayed the same." Hans said.
Nicole and I look at the twins while flirting with the girls on the couch. Those twins actually have to put effort into getting to know another person. But we know they put in an initial effort just to tell the girl in the end that they "don't want a relationship right now."
"Belle!" Jesse pop out of nowhere and gave me a hug, "I'm glad you came here."
"Happy birthday Jesse!"
We started drinking, there was a good looking smiling young man who sips and talks, nods and laughs with me. I flirted with him the whole night. All I really am anymore is an actor. And just like the greatest thespians of the generation, I blend in like a chameleon. More people spoke to me but I didn't clock their faces, barely registered any of them, just let the harsh blur of arms and laughter. It's already 1am when I felt like I'm already sober. The guy I'm flirting with a while ago was nowhere to be found. I was drinking with my "friends". Yung kaibigan sa inuman lang. They are all drunk and high that's why I stopped drinking and look for my bestfriend, I went to uno, he's one of the twins. But he said Nicole and Hans already went upstairs to do their "thing".
The party is at a triply-removed acquaintance's apartment, a five-bedroom somewhere in a nondescript neighborhood, presumably south of some places and north of others. The music, rap and hood pollution, emanates from two monitors propped up against the back walls. Pupunta na ko sa kwarto na ibinigay ni Jesse para samin. That room is for me, Nicole, Hans and the twins. But know Uno and Dos, hindi yun matutulog sa kwarto dahil sa mga babae nila ngayong gabi. I tried to know at the door but it's locked. Kinuha ni Nicole yung susi kanina kaya naman hindi ako makakapasok. Nilapit ko yung tenga sa pinto and I heard Nicole's moan. They're having a good time.
I was walking in the hallway when a group of four men in their mid-20s, dressed uniformly in classic fraternity attire, board and split between where I am. They are high, with a slight hint of inebriated aggressiveness in their voices. They're the guys who's trying to hit me up.
"You looked so pure and virginal."
I stared at him trying to work out if he was being serious. I'm wearing a white lacy dress. No jacket at all because the heater was on. Someone tried to touch me and I kicked him down there. Because they are high the other guys just laugh at the guy I kicked.
"Assholes." I said and walk away.
I went to the mini library of the rented house. I locked the door and start cursing in Tagalog. I put my hair into a bun and walk to the bookshelf. I'm admiring the host's collection of thick postmodern novels most of which have been unread, I presume. and suddenly someone chats me up next to the bookshelf where I am.
"You don't seem like you're having a good time."
"What makes you say that?" I almost jump I thought I was the only in here, I'm looking between the books when the guy look
With his blue eyes.
