Madisons POV
Well todays the day. My date with Riker. I looked down at my sundress with blue flowers on it, white jacket, and black converse. It isnt what I usually wear to work but I wanted to look nice for Riker. At least I hope I look good enough.
"What time is lover boy supposed to get here?" Dana asked me, breaking me from my thoughts.
"He said he'd be here at seven," I said as I sat down on one of the bar stools so I was facing in Dana's direction. "But I doubt he even shows." I rested my head on my hand then looked at the clock. 7:10. What are the chances a boy that Ive really only had a conversation with twice, is going to show up for a date?
I heard the cafe door open and Dana raised her eyebrows at me. "I wouldnt be so sure about that," she said as she continued to wipe off the counter.
I slowly tured around to find Riker, awkwardly standing in front of the door. He was wearing a blue baseball tee, jeans, and black converse. He looked like he did yesterday but there was something different about him. "Megan?" he asked walking closer to me.
"Hey Riker," I said with a smile.
"Yo-you look beautiful."
"Thanks!" I said with a smile. "You look great too."
Riker let out a little laugh and then there was an awkward silence between us. "So um...Should we...Should we go?" he asked tilting his head towards the cafe door.
"Yeah," I said with a nod as he let me lead the way out the door.
Rikers POV
After mine and Madisons awkward "meet up", I guess you could call it, I led the way a few blocks down to a pleace called Pizza Palace. I didnt know if the pizza here was good or not. I googled pizza places last night and this is what it came up with. But hey its pizza right, so it shouldnt be that bad.
So far things have been pretty quiet between me and Madison. We havnt said a word to each other the whole walk over here.
"Pizza Palace!" Madison said once she saw this sing. "I love this place! My dad used to take me and my brother here all the time when we were younger," she told me as I opened the door for her.
"Madison! I havnt seen you in a while," one of the guys working said once we got inside.
"Hey David. I know its been a long time since Ive been in here," she said with a smile, but she looked kind of sad.
"And I see youve got a date," David said looking at me.
"Oh. Yes! David this is Riker. Riker, David," Madison said introducing us two and I gave him a little wave.
"Riker huh? Youre the one who ordered the pizza right?" David asked me, as he looked me up and down.
"Yeah."
"Hey Angie! Do you have that cheese pizza ready?!" David yelled into the kitchen.
"Yup. Right here," Im assuming Angie came out of the kitchen holding a pizza box and stopped once she saw Madison and me.
"Madison?!" she yelled putting the pizza on the counter and running over to give her a hug.
"Madisons here?" another guy asked coming out of another one of the back rooms.
"Brandon," she said giving him a hug.
"Here Riker. I can ring you up," David said walking over to the cash register.
After about seven minutes of Madison talking with Angie and Brandon, I had paid for the pizza and now we were in my car headed to a park, not to far from the Pizza Palace and my house.
"How long have you known them three?" I asked before we got to the park.
"Since I was about four or five. My dad used take me and my brother there when we were younger. Their dad and my dad were really good friends. So when my dad would go to work he would drop me and my brother off there for the day and we would play with David, Brandon, and Angie and as we got older we would wait on tables or help make the pizzas." After she finished talking, I put the car in park as she stared off into space for a couple of seconds then snapped back to reality. "We had a lot of fun together."
"Well were here," I said opening my door then running around the car to open hers.
"Thanks," she said with a little giggle. Her laugh was pretty cute.
"I can take that," I said as she handed me the pizza. Before I closed the door I grabbed a blanket from the back seat, then headed over to an empty place in the park. I spread the blanket out on the grass then sat down on it, along with Madison. We started eating and talking about different things and before I knew it half the pizza was gone.
"Im stuffed," Madison said. We were both now laying down facing the sky. The sun was just about to set and the first stars were coming out.
"Me too," I said looking at the sky. "Hey Madison, if you dont mind me asking, wheres youre dad, mom, and brother?" I asked her propping myself up on an elbow.
"You know you can call me Madi if you want. And my family," she said propping herself up on an elbow, facing me. "My mom died when I was three so my dad moved me and my brother out here, thinking that he wanted to be an actor. Well when that didnt work out he got into some small family business. He worked for them until my brothers last few years of high school then the company cut some of their employees off, my dad being one of them. So he decided to move back to our home state, be John and I both loved it out here, so we told him that we werent going and my dad got mad and kind of just left. Havnt heard from him since. My brother, on the other hand, his name is John. We used to be really close but when he graduated high school last year, and since Im old enough to take care of myself, we grew further appart. I havnt really heard from him either. I know he got in trouble with the law a few times. Last I knew he still lived here in LA but Im not for sure..."
"Wow..." That was all I could say. She basically had no family left. "So youre kinda just out here by yourself, huh?"
"Yeah, I guess. So enough about me. Tell me about your family."
"Well," I started as I sat all the way up. "I have once sister, her names Rydel, and I have three younger brothers, Rocky, Ross, and Ryland. Me, Rydel, Rocky, Ross, and our best friend Ellington are in a band. We're called R5. My mom and dad are the best parents and support us with everything we do."
"Well Riker Lynch. I want to meet this family of yours sometime," she said, standing up and helping me fold up the blanket.
"Yeah. Maybe for the next date you can," I said with a smile. I opened the car door for her then got in myself. "So. Directions to your house."
"Oh. No actually you can just drop me off at the cafe. I have to help Dana finish cleaning up then lock up the shop."
"Ok," I said as I started driving in the direction we came from.
"Thanks Riker. For the pizza, everything. It was a great first date, I had fun."
"Yeah I had fun too," I said as I parked the car infront of the Coffee Mug. I ran around the car and opened the door for Madison. "Bye Riker," she said giving me a hug.
"Bye Madi. I'll call you. Or who knows maybe youll see me in here tomorrow morning," I said which caused her to laugh.
"Maybe. Thanks again," she told me and walked to the front door.
I got in my car, watched until Madison had disappeared into the cafe, then started the drive home.
