I whistle as I'm strolling back to my dorm, my textbook in hand. Since I had finished my classes a couple hours earlier I had switched into a pair of casual clothes and headed to the study hall to brush up on some material regarding altitude levels and what not. I hated that even in a school about flying math is involved.

I punch in my code to the keypad to my dorm and out of the corner of my eye I spy Lance sneaking down the hall. He was so obvious; He kept jumping from wall to wall, inching his way down the corridor with Hunk in tow. I sigh and toss my book onto my bed before heading back out.

"Lights out in five!" Someone comments.
Ugh. Where are Lance and Hunk heading off to so close to curfew? I had promised Tio Eduardo to keep Lance out of trouble because he had said that I'm the more mature one who knows what they're doing. Aka look after Lance because he sometimes does stupid things. I learned at a young age that what he lacks for in judgment he makes up for in kindness.

"Lance!" I call in a hushed tone. Neither him or Hunk turn so I begin walking down the hall. The lights switch off and Lance and Hunk disappear around the corner. Crap crap crap.

I begin jogging, peering around the corner before continuing my trek. I see Lance and Hunk crouching down under the Instructor's Lounge. Well if I want to avoid infractions I have to keep my mouth shut and silently follow.

I crouch down and crawl under the window and straighten myself up after passing it. I continue walking the duo about 20 steps ahead of me. They suddenly dive into nearby trashcans and I stop. Someone must be coming. I anxiously look around, before spying a room labeled 'Custodian'. I dart up to it and examine the keypad. The only button on there is open. I slam on it and slide inside the room. The door silently closes behind me and I stay still, waiting for footsteps to pass.
"L5 North all clear," a guard confirms as he passes by.

I hear another door slide open, and moments later a crash.
"I'm fine!" Hunk assures from outside the room. I sigh and step out.
"What are you two doing?" I ask.
"Luna!" Lance frets, his arms in a karate position.
"Lance!" I say in mock surprise, lowering down his arms, "Did you seriously not notice me following you the whole time?"
"I, uh, pssh, yeah I did. Didn't I tell you that we were being followed?" Lance lies, nudging Hunk with his elbow.
"Um...Yeah," Hunk replies, kicking the last bit of trash behind the trashcan.

"Anyways, we're going to go get Pidge," Lance reveals, strolling down the hall with his hands behind his head.
"Are you two not aware that it's lights out already?" I point out while following them.
"Then what are you doing here?" Lance counters.
"Touché," I mutter, shoving my hands into my jacket's pockets.
Lance suddenly whips around and shoves Hunk and I into the perpendicular hallway.

I silently watch as a dorm door slides open, revealing a small figure, and shuts just as quickly. Lance judges it's safe to peek out and walks back into the hallway we were originally coming down.
"Where is he going?" Lance questions.
"Um, I don't know. But you two should really get back to your room. You know if you get caught, you're going to be in big trouble, especially after your little stunt today in the simulation," I quietly advise, not wanting to come off as bossy.
"Shh, it's okay. With you here we now have three pairs of eyes to be on the lookout," Lance grins, as he sets off down the hall.

After many winding halls, and close calls, we had emerged on the roof.
Solar panels lined the ground and sat in the clearing was Pidge. As we near him I notice that he has headphones on and several pieces of equipment laid out before him.

'Watch this' Lance mouths, as he tiptoes over to Pidge.
Oh no.
Lance places a hand on one side of his headphones and simultaneously brings his face inches from Pidge's.
"Come up here to rock out?" Lance questions with pursed lips.

"Gaaah!" Pidge screams, twisting around, his headphones flying off.
"Oh, it's just you," he continues.
"I uh, no, I just come up here to look at, the stars," he hesitates, not meeting our eyes.

"Man, where'd you even get all this stuff? It doesn't look like Garrison tech," Lance inquires.
"That's cause it isn't. I built it," Pidge explains with a look of pride.
"You built this?" Hunk gapes, inching closer to the tech.
"Mhm. No stop it," Pidge orders, slapping Hunk's prodding hands away.
"With this I can scan all the way to the edge of the solar system," Pidge points out.

"Hmm, interesting," Lance muses with his chin resting on his fingers, "All the way to Kerberos?"
Pidge groans and turns away. I spy Hunk once again curiously scooting towards Pidge's gadgets, but stay quiet.
"What?! You go ballistic every time an instructor brings it up!" Lance points out, kneeling down.

"Second warning Hunk," Pidge hisses.
Hunk groans and slinks off.
"Look, if we're going to bond as a team, we can't have any secrets," Lance protests.
I awkwardly stare off because I wasn't apart of their team.

"Fine. The world as you know it is about to change," Pidge sighs, defeated.
Pidge turns around to face Lance and I.
"The Kerberos mission didn't fail because of some malfunction or crew mistake."
I sit criss cross apple sauce, because I feel weird being the only one standing.

"STOP TOUCHING MY EQUIPMENT," Pidge growls, causing Hunk to fall over, defeated. He lays there. Bored, but still.
"So I've been scanning, and picking up alien radio chatter," Pidge insists.
Hunk bolts upright, and stares at Pidge.
"Whoah, what? Aliens?"
"So you're insane, got it," Lance concludes, standing back up.

"I'm serious," Pidge huffs, grabbing a nearby notepad.
"They keep repeating one word. Voltron," he explains, tapping the doodle pad.
"And tonight, it's going crazier than I have ever heard it."
"How crazy?" Lance questions.

"Attention students. This is not a drill," Iverson's voice crackles over the intercom speakers.

The four of us say silent, and continue listening to the message.
"We are on lockdown, security situation Zulu Niner."

I look up from the ground and blink a few times. I have a tendency to stare off at nothing and I caught myself doing it once again. I look up at the sky instead, and squint as I notice a bright hue in the distance.

"I repeat, all students must remain in the barracks until further notice."

"Um, guys. What's that?" I ask, pointing up at the reddish ball of light.
"What's going on?" Hunk questions, rising from the ground, his eyes following my finger.
"Is that a meteor?"
"Whatever it is, it's approaching us, fast," I warn.
Pidge grabs his binoculars off his backpack, and raises them to his eyes.
"It's a ship!"
"Gimme that," Lance whines as he yanks the binoculars from Pidge.

A spaceship?? From where? Who's flying it? Cause they're doing a pretty bad job.

"Oh shit! I can't believe what I'm seeing! That's not one of ours," he shouts.
"No shit Sherlock," I retort, my eyes trained on the descending ship. Lance groans at my remark and mutters something about tea and magnifying glasses.
"So, there really are aliens out there?!" Hunk asks, still in disbelief.
The dying ship crosses the empty sky and crashes just beyond some hills in the distance.

In a matter of seconds Garrison vehicles are rolling out more than likely to go inspect the crash site. Hey no fair, I want to go see what's out there.
"We have to go see the ship!" Pidge yells, stuffing the last bit of gear into his backpack.

He swings it over his back and runs towards the door, Lance on his heels.
"C'mon Hunk," Lance calls, waving him over.
I stand up but stay next to Hunk, not wanting to leave him behind. I know I'd hate to be left alone.

"Let's go," I urge.
Lance and Pidge are already way ahead of us.
"We can't get left behind," I anxiously warn.
"Worst team building exercise ever," he huffs, beginning to jog to Lance and Pidge.
