We clamber out of the building, Lance and Keith a couple feet ahead dragging the half conscious Shiro. I silently walk behind Lance and Keith, Pidge and Hunk trailing behind. Keith slings Shiro off his arm, and gives him to Lance, and takes position at the driver's spot.
"Um, mind if we catch a ride with you?"Hunk shouts, already heading to the back of the speeder.
Keith looks at me and pats the back of his seat. I nod, getting on behind him.
The speeder suddenly jumps and Pidge and I scream, causing me to wrap my arms around Keith. I realize it was due to Hunk's weight, and quickly let go of Keith."Um, is this thing big enough for all of us?" Pidge nervously asks.
"No," Keith gripes, glaring at Hunk.
I turn around in my seat and see that everyone had boarded. I give a small smile to Hunk, who was barely balancing on the end. I probably have the most comfortable, and safest, seat out of the five of us. Lance is barely holding on and Pidge is struggling to balance Shiro.Lights suddenly shine on us and I turn back around. Garrison vehicles are approaching, fast. Keith revs the speeder and it turns on, lifting us in the air. Keith yanks it around and I quickly grab him to avoid being thrown off.
"Why am I holding this guy?"Pidge yells over the wind.
"Hey, we did all fit,"Hunk chuckles.
"Can't this thing go any faster?"Lance frets.
"We could toss out some non essential weight,"Keith barks.
I let out a soft laugh.
"Oh, right!" Lance idiotically agrees.
"Okay, so that was a joke," he moans."Big man, lean left!" Keith directs.
I grab Keith tighter, pressing my face against his back as the speeder tilts to the left. I hear a crash and shortly after Hunk say something about Mr.Harris.I peek out from Keith, and see that there was a gaping valley to the right of us. The easiest way to shake off our pursuers would be to jump to the right, but that was also the stupidest thing to do.
"Keith," I warn, terrified of his next command.
"Shh, it's okay. Big man, lean right!" Keith orders.Screams fill the air, and I feel myself dropping down. We scratch against the edge of the rocks, but luckily Keith's speeder stays upright.
I hear more crashes behind us, but refuse to look behind."G-g-guys, is that a cliff up ahead?"Hunk stammers.
Oh no.
"Oh no, no no no," Lance repeats, echoing my thoughts.
"Yup," Keith exclaims, leaning forward and revving the speeder up.
"Keith, whatever you're thinking, stop thinking it," I warn, the cliff's edge approaching. He stays silent, and accelerates the speeder.
"No no no," we all protest.
We go over the edge, and everyone screams.
I hug Keith tighter, silently praying that we would survive the drop.
"What are you doing?! You're going to kill us all!" Lance roars over the wind.
"Shut up and trust me!" Keith calls back.
The ground was quickly nearing, and we weren't slowing down. Our chances of survival were about 8%.At the last possible second I feel the speeder shift and instead of instantly dying we zoom over the rocky terrain.
"You're so reckless!" I shriek, pressing my face against his back.
"Nice to see you too," he laughs.I wake up, the sunlight directly hitting my face. I sit up on the couch and rub my eyes, my arms popping from staying in one position for so long.
"Morning sleeping beauty," Lance says from the end of the couch.
"Morning," I reply, swinging my legs over. I scan the room and notice that Keith and Shiro are missing. Pidge is examining some books on a shelf and I spot Hunk in the kitchen, rummaging through Keith's cabinets."Where are Keith and Shiro?" I yawn.
"Shiro went outside not too long ago saying something about seeing a sunrise," Lance reports, fixing his jacket.
"And Keith just left, probably to go talk to him," Lance mutters.
"Oh.. okay," I say, not knowing what else to say.
