BARGH! BARGH! BARGH!
My eyes fly open at the sound of an alarm, and I wildly look around in, well, alarm.
I sit up, not knowing if this was how Alteans did wake up calls or not.
"Zarkon is attacking!" Allura's voice warns over the speakers.
CRAP.
I throw off the sheets and sprint out the door, hoisting up the night gown Allura gave me.
"The Castle's about to be destroyed!"

I spy Shiro, Keith, and Hunk emerging from their dorm.
"This way!" Shiro screams, waving us after him.
I nod, my feet pattering on the cold floor.
"Go go go, we need Voltron now!" Allura's voice echoes through the castle, and I pray that we make it in time. The particle barrier must be holding up nicely. I don't hear any explosions. Is that Coran's voice on the speakers now?

We come to the door to the control room and rush in. Coran's kneeling on the floor, Allura standing by him. There's no Galra outside and there's no immediate danger.
Are you kidding me? I got woken up and scared out of my mind for some prank?

"-Allura's severed head is trying to speak to me!" Coran lies, dramatically speaking into what I assume is a mic, because I can hear his voice being projected into the hall behind us.
"What is it Allura? What are you final words?" Coran yells.

The five of us stare at the exaggerative scene fold out. Allura looks up and spots us, here eyes widening.

"Um, Coran," Allura starts.
"What is it Allura?" Coran asks, lifting his hand to his ear.
"It's over," Allura deadpans, the alarms shutting off.
"Oh, I know! If only Voltron had been formed!" Coran cries.
He opens his eyes and finally sees us.
"Oh! Time!" he shouts, tossing the mic behind him.

"I guess this isn't an actual attack," Shiro sighs.
"And a good thing it wasn't, because it took you... Coran?" she snaps, raising an eyebrow.
"Seventy five degrees."
Degrees?
"Oh wait, that's a meat thermometer," he chuckles, holding it up.
"However long it took you, it was too long," Allura continues, "You must always be ready to do battle with Zarkon."
"Look at you! Only Shiro is in uniform," she points out, walking towards us.
Yeah well lady I had like four hours of sleep in this weird space castle. And I don't even know where this room is yet! Plus I haven't had breakfast!!

"Keith, Pidge, Hunk, Luna, where are your bayards?! And where is Lance?!"
I dunno.
The door behind us slides open and my cousin confidently emerges, sporting a robe and a fresh face.
"Ah, good morning everybody. What's going on?" He innocently asks, taking a sip from his cup.
"Coran and I have been up for hours getting the castle back into order. We needed to test the alarms and we decided to test you as well," Allura scolds.
"Hey!" Hunk exclaims, yawning, "You guys got to sleep for 10,000 years. Monday night we were on Earth. Since then I've done a bunch of crazy shit! That's a lot to process in... what is today?" he grumbled.
"It's the third quinant of the Spicolian Movement! Hump day!" Coran chimes in.
"So even on Alien planets there's a Hump Day," I mutter.
Lance snorts and I look back at him with a smile. I wave him over so he could stand next to me and he gladly obliges.
"Hey, how wa-"
"You must understand the stakes of your mission," Allura starts, cutting me off.
Rude much? Then again I was talking during her speech so...

"I was going over records and over the last 10,000 years the Castle has picked up distress signals from these locations," Allura continues, tapping on a panel that appeared out of thin air which causes stars and planets to encase us all. At first they're silver, but a couple more beeps and a wave of red rolls over the planets.
"Whoah," Pidge whispers.
"We have to assume that Zarkon has conquered almost all of the known universe," Allura goes on.
"What the hell,"Keith whispers.
"Seriously," I whisper back.
Allura waves her hands a few times and settles on a cluster in the map where there was still blue.
"Earth is here. An attack on your planet is inevitable."
"Oh no," Hunk gasped.
"Exactly. Our mission is to free all of these planets," Allura reminds.
Whoaaaaaah, hold on. It took Zarkon ten thousand years to build his empire. How the hell are we suppose to free them in our measly-at most- 100 year lives?!
"Coran and I have been preparing the castle to leave Arus. During that time you have to learn to form Voltron, so we can begin fighting Voltron," Allura bellows.
"The princess is right. Let's get to our lions and start training," Shiro commands.
"Wait! But I want to talk to the prisoners we rescued from the Galra ship!" Pidge interjects.
"Um, negative number six," Coran stops, "I have you ranked by height, okay. The prisoners need to remain in the cryo-replenishers until tomorrow."
"Ex-prisoners," I mutter. They're free now. No need to refer to them as prisoners.
"That's right. Now get to your lions!" Allura barks.
"See you soon boys," I laugh, heading to my elevator that Allura had shown us a couple days ago.
The door slides shut behind me, and I turn to face the door. It begins moving down, and I get ready to slide into my armor. The past couple of days have basically been a tour of the place and super basic things like activating are bayards and successfully getting to out lions.
