I arrive at school. It's my first day of freshman year. Lilly is going to a boarding school. That leaves me with no one. As I walk to class, I feel a tap on my shoulder.

"Courtney!" I turn to see Zayn.

"You know my name, don't pretend to be cool," I smirk.

"Sorry Carmen, I don't know how to act around girls..." He blushed. I laughed.

"Be yourself." I smile, and I walk to homeroom. He followed.

"We have the same home room. I saw your schedule in your binder." He smiled.

"Okay," I say. I'm actually, really excited. I might have a friend.

Zayn and I walked into Mrs. Plalo's class. Whistles fill the room. No, not P.E. coach whistles, hormonal teenage boy whistles.

"10/10!" A boy yelled. I look down, I smiled. I should've said shut up, or piss off, but I smiled, because I'm not used to being noticed.

"Wrong kind of attention Carmen, don't encourage them," Zayn whispered as we sat.

"Sorry.." I said in a low voice.

"Haha don't be!" He said a little loud.

We sat next to each other, at separate desks. The teacher wasn't there yet.

A girl with blonde hair, and huge boobs, sat next to me.

"I'm Laura," She said, noticing that I was staring at her.

"I'm Carmen." I said, embarrassed.

"I didn't ask you for your name." Her eyes scanned the room, trying to find how many boys were staring at her. Every boy, obviously. I looked like a piece of garbage compared to her.

My hair was down and a bit wavy, with a beanie.

Her hair was long and blonde, soft curled locks that she obviously took hours to do, going down her back.

I wore a t-shirt and jeans.

She wore a short, but not dress coding, dress, with hearts on it.

I've never felt so insecure in my life.

"If you envy her, you're gonna have a heck of a time when you see all the other girls." Zayn leaned over to whisper.

"Do you always know what I'm thinking?" I ask him, shocked.

"No, but I assume because your facial expressions show exactly how you feel." He laughs a little.

The teacher walks in with the hugest fake smile in the world.

"Good Morning! Welcome to..." Blah blah blah blah. That's all I heard. I couldn't focus. I was so nervous. We had to sit here, all day, and listen to her talk.

Zayn passed me a folded piece of paper.

Are you ok? You're completely zoned out.

I wrote back.

No, to be honest, I'm so scared.

We passed notes back and forth pretty much all day. This teacher, is oblivious. I would've been caught in 2 seconds in my old school, here, we passed notes for hours.

Our final note said,

Asta lavista, I think that means goodbye. I don't really know Spanish.
