One month later.

Dominik pulled at the chains that bound him, the roar that left his throat loud even to his own ears, power radiated from that sound. Jon didn't seem concerned as he sat back, leaning against the walls watching the beast before him. Jon was rarely concerned about anything, the smug SOB. Dominik and the beast agreed they wanted to be free to wipe the smug look of contentment and righteousness off Jon's face.

"I warned you years ago, Dominik, that you could only control the beast within you for so long. That living in the city would not help. You ignored it, saying it was where you needed to be, saying you had a job to finish. Now, the job is finished and the beast is winning the fight. You young bucks won't ever learn." Jon was almost laughing as he shook his head at Dominik, the fur encased arms tugging at the heavy chains that even his beast would be unable to break.

"You can't force me to join your pack, old man!" Dominik snarled back at him, the rage and power filling the room, the others in the room cowering back in fear of the more dominant.

"Why would I want to? It would be so much easier to just lay you down like the rabid dog you are becoming. But I am a sentimental fool of an old man, I rather happen to care about you." Jon mocked, the only one who still stood tall before him, always the more powerful Alpha.

"Then release me!"

It was an order, all the power within him crawling forward and reaching the ears of those weaker than he. He watched, slightly amused as one man began to obey, slowly moving forward towards Dominik. Jon turned swiftly, a hand wrapping around the weak pup's throat and throwing him back against the wall. When he turned back to Dominik, his eyes were as calm as always, as if no shift had occurred, no pushing of his beast to come forward. Unlike Dominik who was slowly losing control with each beat of his heart.

"You know why your beast fights for control? Why now he is acting like a rabid animal?" Jon asked but gave no chance for an answer. "Because you have tried to cage him, tried to tame a wild animal. You have taken him from pack, from nature, and now you are mateless. He has nothing to ground him. When was the last time you let the beast hunt? Run? Be with his kind?"

Dominik growled at the older man, pulling trying to break free. The mention of hunt and mate driving the animal insane even more. The very mention of the loss of Kitten drove the beast insane to want to track her down and return her. But the man, the man who loved her, who had just a little bit more morals then the animal would never allow that. She was gone, disappeared just the way it needed to be. She deserved a good life, a good home, love and respect, all the things Dominik Kinkaid could never give to her.

"You will turn rogue if this continues, Dominik. Then you will be put down like a rabid dog. Is that the path you want? You ready to end it all?" Jon wasn't about to beat around the bush, but the animal snarled and snapped at the older man. The threat of someone coming for him making the animal wanting to end them before they could do him in.

"You have another path to you, Dominik. It is time you stopped running from the past. Its time you came home. It is time you take back your life, the one your mother and father were planning for you since the day you were born. You got your revenge, now it's time to live again." Jon walked out, leaving the beast snarling and snapping at his back as the heavy metal door slammed shut.

Two months later

He walked into the ballroom, and scanned the room slowly.

Zander and Aimi were supposed to be arriving back from the lake with the family any moment. They had invited him to join them for the small ceremony that would bind the girl to the Alpha, but he had declined. It wasn't right, it wasn't his place. He wasn't family, he wasn't even pack. But he owed it to them both to at least congratulate them in person.
