A/N: Men, am I right? Have we got any non-Newt gents here today? If we do, I salute you.

He sat there, holding your hand the entire night, something that your ex-lover would have done in the past but he wasn't there. So Mr Percival Graves would have to do.

When it neared four thirty in the morning, the bedroom door creaked open and Queenie popped her heard around the door. Her eyes focused on you for a moment, she hoped that her entrance hadn't awoken you. She was in luck.

You were out cold, exhausted by the past day's events and the heavy sense of betrayal that plagued your weary mind.

The more mature male nodded his good morning to the beautiful female, he too not wishing to wake you yet.

"I'm going to help Jacob at the bakery, I should be back before you and Tina leave. You want me to get you some breakfast?" she whispered.

For the first time that night, he smiled, grateful at the idea of having something to eat.

She beamed at him, that signature Queenie grin that he had become so accustomed to.

With that final smile, the golden-haired female disapeared from sight and most likely from the premises.

Graves settled once more into the chair Tona had kindly provided for him. Kneeling at your bedside had not been forgiving on his knees.

He hadn't planned to stay the entirety of the night but everytime he withdrew his hand, you mewled and fussed, all whilst still in a state of blissful unaware.

At around two o'clock, Tina had offered to take his place but she looked as tired as he felt, so the male had declined her offer.

It wasn't all bad, he had managed to catch moments of sleep but everytime he did, his mind would reel, unable to stop reminding the male of your defeated facial expression. The sound of your scream still rung in his ears. The memory of your monumental distress was not a pleasant one.

Which was why he had made a promise to you to find out what had transpired at Leta's home.

Graves was thankful that Tina had too thought there was an element of foul play where Newt and Leta were concerned. Granted, it was not like Newt to cheat on someone he undeniably loved. However, the male could help but also recall the young Scamander's terrible decision-making when it came to you. Letting you get hurt in the forest, oblivitating your mind at Hogwarts, pushing you away when his Mother sadly passed- yes, Graves was privy to all of these incidents.

Did Newt Scamander deserve your unconditional love after all the hurt he had inflicted on you-physically and emotionally? He wasn't too sure.

A/N: I love this chapter. I think this might be one of the best pieces I have ever written. Being heavily dyslexic, I find writing quite challenging at the best of times. So when I write something like this, something I genuinely have enjoyed creating, then it makes having Dyslexia a little less annoying.

So if you see any mistakes, you now know why!

So with regards to next chapter, I was thinking of including Jacob. Maybe move away from the reader for a few chapters? I will return back to them in roughly two chapters time. Does that work for you?
