You were walking briskly, trying to get back to the safety of your home. Why had you been so stupid and gone out?

The world around you was completely dark, due to the power cut that had stolen all of the light and to make matters worse, you had left your wand at home. Both you and Newt were forgetful when it came to your wands.

Newt...

You quickly pulled your thoughts away from him.

You were walking home blindly, using the light of the moon to guide you. You were terrified. Anything could happen to you in the darkness, anyone could be lurking around in the shadows.

Suddenly you collided with someone, which caused you to fall upon the cold, hard pavement on Tenth Avenue. You lay there, frozen in fear, unsure what to do. What if the person was hostile? There was most likely no one around to hear your screams of help or to assist you if you were attacked.

"Ah, goodness. That hurt." a voice suddenly said, groaning in pain.

Wait. You knew that voice...

"Hey, whoever you are, are you okay?"

It was him!

"I-I'm fine." you stuttered, forgetting to use a different accent.

Uh oh.

There was a pause in the darkness. You could only hear his breathing. Slowly and as quietly as you could, you rose to your feet, whincing as pain shot down your left arm. It didn't feel broken, so hopefully you were just suffering from a sprain.

You listened carefully, trying to work out how close he was to you. You sensed him standing up, trying to be as silent as you.

"(Y/N)?" he whispered.

Oh no.

You suddenly ran, thankful for your dark surroundings. Hopefully you would be able to escape him. His footsteps echoed behind you as he persued you. Damn it! You continued to run even though your legs protested and your chest felt as if it was going to cave in.

"(Y/N)!" he called for you. The pain in his voice made your heart break but he couldn't see you, not like this.

You kept on running, weaving further and further into NYC's darkened heart. Where were you? Everything was just...dark. It was like you were unconscious but physically moving. A weird experience.

Without warning, you tripped and fell onto the ground with a loud thud. You hoped to break your fall by outstretching your hands, instead you scraped the skin off of them. You hissed in pain, as you lay there in a heap on the ground.

He was sure to catch you now.

He didn't know that you had fallen over. He hadn't heard you trip and he hadn't seen you fall. If he had, he would have stopped and helped you, instead of stumbling over your hunched body. He fell face first onto the rough sidewalk.

Ouch.

He lay there for a moment, his legs tangled with yours.

He felt sick, you were lying beside him. His lost partner was now beside him. Where had you been? He had so many questions he wanted to ask you.

"(Y/N)..." he murmured.

You began to quiver, tears in your eyes. This was not the way you had wanted to be reunited. It was all so wrong!

Newt could hear your uneven breathing and immediately knew that you were crying. Instinctively, he blindly attempted to sit up and pull you into his arms.

You didn't resist, your body was so obedient to his touch. Oh how you had missed his gentle hugs and tender kisses.

Carefully, he helped you stand up with him, his arms still wrapped around your frame. You continued to shake.

"(Y/N)?"

Boom. Boom. Boom. The lights of NYC all came on. The bright lights blinding the unsuspecting couple. It was as if the World had been switched on with the flick of a switch (they probably had). It was dazzling.

It was time to stop running and time to start talking.
