Two Days Later.
Things with Newt had finally returned back to being normal. There had been no sudden accidents with scissors or glasses smashing, he was finally back to acting like himself. Sort of.
As much as you hated to admit it, there was still something slightly off about Newt's personality. Now it wasn't that he wa acting unfriendly towards you, it was just that his usual warmth had slightly cooled off. He was acting more reserved, smiling and conversing less.
What with pre-Christmas exams due in a few weeks, you assumed that the young male was just feeling the strain of his hectic studies. Surely you had nothing to worry about?
Maybe every little incident that had occured was due to inmense stress? Yes, that made so much sense to you. It had to be stress.
That night, you had once again snuck into Newt's room, deciding that you wanted to curl up beside him on the icy and wintery night.
He had obliged, pulling back the covers so that you could slip in beside him.
Lying side by side, it was hard to imagine that there were problems between you two. As you talked about everything and anything in hushed tones, you couldn't help but notice a certain glassiness to his gaze, tiredness? It must have been.
Eventually you found yourself falling asleep mid-sentence, content and comfortable in Newt's arms.
You heard him mumble a partially coherant 'goodnight', before he too was in a state of a blissful unaware.
When he closed his eyes and allowed himself to fall unconcious, the fake Newt melted away, slinking back into the dark corners of the male's mind whilst the real Newt-the Newt you loved- found himself transported to a realm of stars.
The ground below was dusty, fabricated of grey rocks and rubble but the sky, the sky was ablaze with dying stars and galaxies.
The male's attention would have been constantly captivated by the array of constellations, had he not noticed the form standing before him.
"Well, boy, it seems you are truly fit for my purpose. I never had high hopes for you, it seems I was mistaken." a grin spread across it's lips.
Newt backed away from the terrifying being, he wanted to wake up from this nightmare. He wanted to wake up and be safe in Hogwarts. He wanted to be beside you once more. Not to be here, wherever 'here' was. "You." Newt hissed. "You're the one who's planted whatever it is in my body." anger swelled within his tall frame.
The figure shrugged. "Surprise!"
"It thought you were human. What are you?" he demanded to know, desperate to fight against whatever it was that had taken control of his body.
And that was whenlaughed and simply said: "Wouldn't you like to know?"

A/N: Eheheh, I lied.
