A/N: It's been a really difficult day. My depression is back, badly this time. I'm finding writing a very difficult task but I will continue to update. Hopefully I will reach a point where my depression will start to lessen again.

"I love you." he whispered those precious words to you as you both lay side by side. He reminded you everyday that you were not alone and that you had him to talk to. you always replied with an 'I know' but it didn't feel as if you really did.
As he stared at you now, he noticed the undeniable sadness in your eyes, it made his heart break in two. Only when he felt your arms snake around his waist and draw him to you, did Newt realise that he had been silently crying and that, holding him was your attempt at soothing his tormented soul.
You held him to you- oh-so-gently- as if he was going to break but Newt reminded himself that it was you who was the fragile one and in need of support. He clung to you as if you were the most precious thing in the world, which you were.
"I love you." he repeated his earlier words.
That was when he said the words that you so needed to hear from him. Of course, his actions always showed that he cared for you deeply but you didn't need to hear another 'I love you' or a stream of sweet nothing's. You needed words of stability, which obviously without your knowledge, he had been whispering to you as you slept but never when conscious. Reader, we can forgive Newt for this one blunder, as he was a shy specimen. Words of adoration came naturally. Words of bravery and boastfulness? Not so much.
"We're going to get through this, you know? You and I. Life has certainly thrown it's fair share of drama and hurt at us but we've overcome every mole hill. Despite every odd not being in our favour, we're still alive. We're still together. What we're going through now? It's just another thing for us to overcome but we will. We always do' (Y/N). And I promise you, no matter what happens. I'll be with you every step of the way. I promise."
"I know."
