The room was silent.
Skolris couldn't bare this feeling anymore. The fact that she had gone crazy. The fact that she had turned on her coach. The fact that she almost felt the urge to kill.
She turned, and ran out of the door to the room. Tears streamed from her eyes and her paws left scratches in the floor.
The main gates to the school were closed and locked. Guards stood outside and watched her rapidly approach. Without thinking, Skolris grew feathered wings from her back and flew right over the wall. The guard's eyes widened.
She kept flying, above the clouds. She didn't care where she was going. At last, Skolris landed and she surprisingly found herself at the beach. She landed in the soft sand.
The memory of what happened kept coming back. The fact that she let her animal side take over. The fact that she was willing to kill somebody.
She started to piece things together. When she used her shifting abilities to much, the animal took over. If she kept it locked up, it would break free.
What she had done was because of using her abilities too much.
Skolris made her wings disappear to look like a normal wolf. Even though it wasn't technically her fault, Skolris couldn't forgive herself. She continued to stare at the ocean.
I need to minimize the amount of times i shift. Yet, Skolris couldn't risk changing back into a human. Someone may be out looking for her.
Skolris looked around quickly and shifted into a golden retriever dog. Nobody would notice or recognize her.
She began to lose track of time and continued to stare at the ocean.
The sun had begun to set. What will i tell my mom? She would have to force herself to tell her. Im sure she'll let me stay home tomorrow. Skolris lay her head on her paws as her eyes began to droop. Everything has been so tiring lately.
She suddenly heard a crunching in the sand. Skolris looked back to see Antariel. She was gazing around, looking for something. She's probably looking for me.
Antariel finally spotted her by the tide. She probably didn't know it was her. Antariel then gave Skolris an unsure look before making a whistling sound. Sigh, she thinks it just a dog.
Antariel continued to clap and whistle in an attempt to call what she thought was a golden retriever. I might as well listen.
Skolris trotted over to Antariel, looking around cautiously and stopping halfway there. Give me the power to speak telepathically with Antariel.
Antariel started to walk towards her. Antariel, it's me, Skolris. She looked confused at first then a knowing look grew onto her face. "Skolris?" She nodded her head. Come, follow me. It'll look weird for you to be talking to a dog.
Skolris walked to her same spot and sat down. "I saw you run out of class. Everyone was terrified that you might-you know...." she said. Yah, I know! Skolris snapped.
Sorry Antariel, it just really got to me. I was willing to kill, right then. If i hadn't have stopped myself, I would have attacked the coach. She thought guiltily while staring at her paws.
"It's alright, what happened anyway. After Gildra had pinned you down, it looked like you had died or something. When she got off, you started shaking like crazy and when the coach put his hand on your shoulder, you almost bit his hand off. Everyone was so scared and one of the kids even tried to stop you with fire but you didn't even notice. Then all of a sudden, your tail would change and then your paws. You would grow wings then they would disappear. It looked like you were glitching out like a video game or something. And then, you stopped and ran out the door."
Skolris covered her face with her tail in shame. How could i have done this? Antariel patted her fluffy head. I had used my abilities too much. The animal inside of me thought it could be loose forever and when i let it, it almost killed someone. "It wasn't your fault, Skolris." Well, now I'm going to be expected to shift everyday!
Antariel sighed but then she suddenly jumped. "Skolris, when you come back to school, the Kweens (queen of school) are going to have to see you. You'll have to reveal your ability to her. They already contacted your mom."
Skolris growled, why did this have to happen? Im sure there are people looking for me. The Kweens must have called the city guards that a crazy girl was running around. Ill be thrown in prison. Ill probably go crazy again. Skolris began to panic and pace.
"Skolris, calm down. I have an idea." Skolris stopped and listened. "So, i can tell my mom that i found a golden retriever puppy on the beach that was starving and thirsty. I will ask her if we can take the puppy home and tomorrow, you can come with me to school as a puppy. So you don't miss anything." Skolris nodded her head.
Sure, but, what about my mom? Antariel smiled. "You're having a sleepover." She said cleverly. Nice. Skolris shifted into a tiny golden retriever puppy that looked like it was starving. Ok. "Wait here." Antariel said before running off.
Skolris lay her head down on her paws and waited. About five minutes later, she heard footprints approaching her on the sand. It was pitch black outside.
She forced out a fake whimper as they approached. Be a puppy, act like a puppy. Antariel's mom had light brown hair that was long and straight. Her body shape was perfect. She could be on the cover of a magazine.
"Poor thing! We better take her home." She scooped Skolris up in her arms and walked back towards her house. Oh lord, never thought your mom would be this.... concerned. Skolris sighed to Antariel.
When they arrived at Antaruel's house, she took Skolris upstairs into Anyariel's room. "You can sleep in here tonight." Antariel said before turning off the lights and curling into her own covers.
