"Closer"

I sped walked down the hallway to catch up to my programming professor. I had been turning in assignments left and right all week. The summer classes were more cut throat because there wasn't as much room to screw up like in an average semester.

"Professor Stone, I have a question regarding my grades" I said as she slowed down for me to catch up.

"I don't give grades you earn them so whatever you earned is what you earned" she said repeating the same line she's been using since the class started.

"My program runs perfectly fine so I was wondering why I got a 70 on my assignment" I spoke trying to hold back my annoyance. She was one of the only teachers I had problems with. She was anal about the smallest details and would be picky when grading assignments.

"I have a class so I need to get to, schedule an appointment with me online and we'll go over your grades then" she said before walking off. I frowned and refrained from saying anything else to her.

"Fucking bitch" I mumbled and turned around almost bumping into someone. I apologized and continued walking until I got to the stairway that led outside. Pulling my phone out, I scrolled and searched for Marcellus' number. I knew he was probably getting tired of dropping me off even though he says he doesn't mind. As soon as I moved comfortably in my apartment, I would begin my hunt for a decent car. Something that could take me from point A to point B.

My grade was still weighing heavily on my mind. I couldn't afford to fail her class or any class. I wanted to maintain a GPA higher than a 3.7. I wanted earn scholarships and do internships and the higher my GPA and involvement in my academics and outside activities, the higher chance I had of achieving these goals.

"Wassup Nayeli" I heard a voice say as I looked up from the phone. I gave the boy a small smile and waved. He was a cute guy I had a class with last semester. We didn't have the same major so most of our class from here on out probably wouldn't be the same.

"Hey Mekhi, I thought you weren't taking summer classes" I said surprised to see him on campus.

"I wasn't but I wanted to be ahead plus any chance I get to see your pretty face is worth my time and money" he said making me smile. He was such a flirt sometimes and I couldn't help but to think it was cute.

"Mhmm whatever" I said as I continued to walk, his footstep eventually fell in line with mine as I walked to the loop where Marcellus usually came to pick me up. Most times I didn't have to call him because he would already be waiting but I didn't see his car.
