"Too Good"
Nayeli
⚜️I smiled staring at the dashboard of black Acura TSX with tinted windows. My hands gripped the steering wheel tightly in excitement. I didn't care if people thought it wasn't the nicest, it was mine. I wasn't going to break my pockets and take on a car that I knew I couldn't afford. All that mattered was that I had a car to call my own. A car that I didn't have to ask anyone if I could drive. A car that was in my name and in my possession.
Being that I hadn't seen Armani in a few days, I decided to swing by her house. She didn't know I had gotten my car so I wanted to surprise her. We were the kind of friends that would get more excited for each others accomplishments than our own; so I knew she would go crazy.
Starting the car up, I pulled out of the dealership and onto the busy road. I hadn't even been driving long and I could tell I was going to have bad road rage. People just couldn't drive, I wondered who they threw ass for to get their license. The drive to her house wasn't too long from the dealership so in no time I was pulling into her driveway.
I noticed both her parents cars as I walked up the driveway. Reaching the door, I knocked a few times and rocked back and forth on my feet as I waited. Heels clicking against the floor could be heard and soon the front door opened revealing Armani's mother. Armani's mother, Phara, was a full bodied Haitian woman with a smart mouth. She didn't like a lot of Armani's friends but she always approved of me.
"Nayeli I haven't seen you in a long time" she smiled.
"Mrs.Phara, how are you?" I greeted, returning the smile.
"Oh you know, dealing with these nurses that have no home training. How are you?"
"I'm fine" I laughed at her comment. She was always complaining at the dirty lazy nurses at her job.
"I thought Armani was with you? Where is that girl?" Her mother asked prompting me to lie on the spot. I had no idea what Armani had told her.
"She sent me over here to get some of here things" I said, the lie rolling off my tongue so smoothly that I almost believed myself. I didn't want to get her in trouble but I was confused on why she would tell her mom that. Usually she would tell me when she wanted to lie to her parents about her whereabouts. I figured she forgot to call me and text me but I would call her later.
"What she need?"
"She's needs her allergy pills and that small pink blanket she brings everywhere" I said knowing her mother wouldn't think anything of that.
