The Truth

I was roughly shoved awake from my nightmare. Or at least I think it was a nightmare.

The cloth had been removed from my eyes. The burly figure that had pushed me leaned forward in the chair opposite. He looked like he was maybe around 16 years of age.

Fixing his steely gaze on me, his stormy grey eyes were digging through my mind and into my soul as though he could read all my deepest and darkest secrets.

He opened his mouth.

"Now listen to me carefully, your parents have done something pretty bad, something that needs to be fixed and you're just the person that can do so." He smirked.

I racked my brain trying to guess what dastardly deed my parents had committed, but my brain was still mush, which clearly didn't help my case at all.

Seriously what was this dude talking about!?

"Out in the big wide world, kid, there are people who have nothing to eat, nowhere to sleep, and sometimes, no family. You however, have been handed with all of these things plus so much more without a second thought about it, and I can tell that you aren't grateful for anything you've been given what so ever."

Suddenly, strong white lights came on from nowhere. That's when I realised I wasn't alone, at all. There were other kids around my age (all of them being teenagers), sitting in chairs all around me, bound by ropes and gags. It appeared we were in yet another big warehouse, with no accessible windows and a lot of high tech everywhere.

I peered closer at the other kids around me. They looked sick and sleep-deprived with pale skin and empty eyes, filled only with fear and sadness. They all looked so broken. What had these people done to them?

My eyes widened as I began to recall some of them, but they were so under-fed and skinny it was difficult to match faces to names. That's how unrecognisable they were. Each and every one of them was from rich kid magazines, movies, TV shows. Overall, there were just generally a bunch of kids from multiple rich families all around the world.

The man (teenager) slapped my face, turning my attention back to him.

"The thing is, these guys and girls are all rich, 'he spat, every word laced with venom." just like you. And I'm going to fix that, by making sure you all pay, so you can feel the pain other people have to go through in their everyday lives. Ever read The Hunger Games?" he asked, grinning wickedly.

My face paled and some of the other kids in the room began to cry, mostly the younger girls ranging between ages 11- 14.

The man (teenager, whatever you believe a 16 year old boy should be described as) grinned as if this was the reaction he had wanted.

I looked down trying to avoid eye contact with this guy.

That's when he growled warningly at me. I turned to face him just as he slapped me again. Then he stood and walked to the door, but before he exited, he flipped off the light switch.

"Names Dan, by the way," he growled looking at me directly in the eye. "Dan Blackwood."

He left the room, closing the door behind him with that same wicked smirk back on his face, leaving me and the other kids in the complete darkness and silence, with only my shocked and confused thoughts to entertain me.
