Authors Note - An early update...sort of!!!
We are at the plot Climax!!!!! I'm a horrible person having have dragged this story out...but I'm sorry and I'm pleased to say that you will finally read about more action from this point on.
I'd just like to say thank you to everyone that has continued to read my story, even though it's not the greatest. I really appreciate the support, if it wasn't for your motivation I doubt 'Gunpoint' would have ever gotten this far and close to being completed.
FINALLY THE MOST IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT (It isn't actually important!)
Fishing_With_Totoro is the greatest editor ever trying to help me out with my past/present/future tense because I apparently switch around a lot. And I promise I probably will go back and edit the whole story afterwards with all the suggestions I've been given.
I have also decided to promote Fishing_With_Totoro to semi-co-writer seeing how he/she/it has helped me write a bit of this chapter, the next one, the one after that, and a few previous chapters and he/she/it should really try writing his/her/its own story... :D
(Fishing_With_Totoro just don't think this gives you any power over this story, it is still MINE!!!!)
This is the longest authors note i have ever done... anyway, enjoy the chapter and don't forget to vote or comment if you like it or have any suggestions!
:D :D :D

The silence made me feel on edge. I had long ago lost the other competitors. How I had, I wasn't entirely sure.
Most people had run out once the gates opened, with me being one of the first. I had been aware that people were trailing behind me but I somehow managed to lose them. I was still cautious though. We might all be a bunch of rich teenagers but we could definitely do some damage.
I eventually became too tired to run any further. It honestly felt like hours or even days had passed since I entered in through the gates. I knew that it wasn't true. I had probably gone on running for a maximum of half an hour. Just keep in mind I was mainly sprinting as well.
My next objective was now trying to find food, water and shelter. I knew very well that the doctor wouldn't leave us out here to die after all, he had said that at least five of us were going to survive. The real question was, where to look?
For the first time, I took in my surroundings. It seemed we had been placed in a forest of sorts, meaning that there would most likely be food somewhere nearby, although some of this stuff would be poisonous.
I would also have to look out for any hidden cameras. I had a plan formulating in my mind and I didn't want any unwanted attention. Then I spotted it. I would have passed right by the camera except I saw the glint off the lens. Now time to destroy it. I walked over to the bush hiding the camera and 'accidentally' stepped on it. Oops.
My fun was over. Back to my task.
I had started moving again, seeing how a moving target is harder to find then just standing around. Also I needed water and food, I could hear my stomach grumbling and if I didn't feed it soon, it'd give away my hiding spot.
While I was searching, I did come around some other teenagers. A few had managed to find supplies and weapons but the majority had nothing and were doing the same as me. Unlike them, I had an opportunity to surprise and kill them however that would mean I was willing to do anything the doctor wanted. That was not going to happen in a million years.
Besides, I'm pretty sure everyone still hates me and I'd rather not be betrayed by anyone.
More time had passed since I'd last made any contact with another living being. I was now moving in more of a daze than anything else, due to lack of food. That was until I found exactly what I needed.
A small backpack full of all the survival essentials was slung lazily across a tree branch. It included some packaged food and fruit, a bottle of water, some rope, a jacket to keep warm, a torch, a dagger and a small GPS to help me navigate this area. At first I thought the GPS might be a trick but then I thought that they could most likely track us anyway through the chips implanted in us. So I kept it.
It turns out I made the right choice as well. The GPS could track everyone else meaning I'd be able to stay hidden. While eating an apple (which by the way was the best apple ever!), I decided to see what some other people were doing cause I'm a curious person.
The GPS was telling me that maybe half the other teenagers were in the middle. I had a disadvantage as I appeared to be the only person travelling alone, however smaller groups of twos and threes were also in the forests, like me. I was mainly hoping no-one else had a GPS, and I had a very simple game plan.
Avoid everyone.
I still hadn't stopped running, and it was almost dark. I had been scouting the area, both around the edge and middle of the maze to see if there was anything out of the ordinary. My GPS told me I was getting close to the east edge and that there was a group of three in this area.
Right. Stay away from them.
However, curiosity got the better of me. As I hadn't talked to anyone since the Games had started, I was desperate to see who was here. I knew they were slightly south of me so, quiet as a panther, I approached them.
I peered around a tree and to my surprise, the people there were three girls I had met earlier, Berry and the twins Sophia and Gracie. I was almost certain they wouldn't try to plunge a knife in my back so I approached them slowly.
"They're not going to come out here," said Berry's familiar voice. "They'll wait for us and the other groups to approach the middle before they kill us."
"Right," replied Sophia. "So we stay and wait for Dr Miller's fun mini-game, and then we'll see how serious our opponents are about killing."
"They're too serious." muttered a shaking Gracie, wrapping herself in a blanket she must have gotten earlier. "I saw what they did to Ciera's cousin, Seth. You didn't, but I did. They put a dagger straight through his heart. I-I just can't believe it."
"What about Jason?" asked Sophia, directing the question towards Berry whilst putting a comforting arm around her twin. "You saw how he came in here alone, I think he's still upset about Cordelia and Penelope, but he obviously has a plan. I just don't know if we should team up with him or not. It could be useful."
Sophia was smart, I did have a plan. It just wasn't quite completed.
Berry sighed. "I guess we'll just see what happens. You sleep, I'll take first watch."
I ducked my head back and their voices became inaudible. They were right - Dr Miller had said something about a mini-game, but I'd forgotten. I knew it would be good to have some allies, though, so I slowly walked over to their camp.
"Berry?" I whispered.
"What?!" gasped Berry. "Who's there?
"It's me, Jason. I wanted to warn you about the mini-game."
Bereneice, who was still wary, gently shook the other girls awake. "What about the mini-game?" she demanded.
"I scouted the arena and I think we're going to have to do some climbing," I said, producing my ropes from my backpack. "I just thought you should be prepared."
Berry nodded, her eyes full of understanding. "Jason, I think you'd better take a seat." she said.
I suppressed a smile - that had gone better than I'd hoped. I walked over to join the girls and we shook hands over an uneasy alliance. No one could be trusted and we all knew it.
My first allies - this was really great. But I reminded myself not to get too attached.
Getting Millie out alive was my first priority.
