I woke up, startled. My breathing had picked up erratically and I was trying to gain control. My mind was still far away, on the afternoon of my year 6 graduation ceremony, particularly the rose ceremony. I remembered that when I had opened my eyes, I had seen a girl catch my rose. She had then proceeded to walk up to where I was standing. The only problem was that I just couldn't remember any of her features, even as I tried to place a connection. Who was it?

I was immediately hit with the overpowering sense of wanting to sleep. It seemed so tempting to just rest and to forget about everything that's happened. The sudden urge to just let this feeling take over, calmed my breathing and everything I had originally been thinking of had started to go hazy. No more thoughts about my sudden flashbacks and no thoughts about my kidnapping.

Unfortunately my sense of peace was shattered when I was abruptly shaken awake from my stupor. "Jason? Jason are you ok?" came a familiar voice. It sounded so far away. I tried to pull away however, the shaking did not cease. I actually believe that whoever this person was, starting to shake harder and faster.

"Come on Jason, snap out of it!" the voice said, sounding exasperated and somewhat concerned. "Please fight the feeling! Don't succumb to the darkness, it's what they want you to do!"

The desperation in the voice had increased tenfold. Why couldn't they realise I just wanted to be left alone. It was silent for a few minutes. I had thought that the irritating voice had finally found something better to do but I was wrong.

Fate is a cruel, twisted thing. It's like fate just doesn't want to give me a moment of peace and quiet. Why was life so cruel? All I wanted to do was rest for a while, it wasn't that much to ask for, was it?

The persistent voice returned, snapping me out of those negative feelings. "Jason, don't submit to the darkness, you can't give in to those kidnappers. Fight it! I know you're stronger than this, you have to be..." the voice cracked and someone started sobbing. You must have something worth fighting for...wait I know! Fight the urge Jason, you can't submit and become some mindless minion for them. People still need you here! Millie needs you!"

Mille!? That snapped me out of it. They better not have hurt her or I would kill all of them!

Fighting the sleep from my mind, I struggle to open my eyes. All through this, that voice kept encouraging me to fight it and not give in. With one last effort I managed to open my eyes, feeling exhausted with my effort.

I was lying on the cold, dirty floor. In front of me (and slightly above), stood Ella, who was hugging her legs in the foetal Position, with her eyes downcast. Her eyes looked puffy and red, a clear sign that she had been crying. I figured that is must have been her that had been encouraging me to wake up, although what surprised me was how strong her voice had been even though she looked frail at the moment.
