I was led through multiple, dimly lit hallways. The bodyguards had taken up places beside me, in case I tried anything. (Highly unlikely, I don't really have control over my body at the moment guys, you can stop guarding me now.)
All the time we were walking the scientist kept repeatedly mumbling the same words under his breath. To me though, standing 3 feet away, it sounded like 'how...able...not possible...unless...resilient.' That of course didn't really give away much information to my already muddled mind and about after the 3rd or 4th time he'd said it, I sort just blocked it out, finding it extremely annoying.
We had been walking for ages and my legs had started to ache. I had stopped trying to remember my way back, due to the fact that I was completely disoriented after going down hallways that looked identical to each other. How these people know where to go, I have no idea.
It seems I didn't have to mentally complain that much longer, because we soon stopped at what seemed to be our destination. A door. What a surprise.
The scientist briefly looked behind him to see if there had been a reaction to where we were at all. Apparently he was disappointed with what he saw as well. How do I know this? Because I briefly saw excitement in his eyes before he looked at me. Then his eyes scrunched up and his face fell, due to my lack of enthusiasm. Then again I couldn't really show any emotion anyway. My body wouldn't allow me to.
"Oh well, I guess the chip probably wouldn't allow you to show any emotions anyway right?" he said, frowning slightly.
My body reacted on my own and I couldn't control the words that automatically came out of my mouth, "yes sir, you're correct."
As response, the guy just absently nods, taking a notebook out of his pocket and scribbling something down quickly.
"hmm, it seems the chip is still in working order, that's good, very good," he commented to himself before directing his attention back towards me, "alright Master Blackwood, this is going to be your new room for the night so that we can monitor you and make sure everything is in working order, I presume someone will come and bring you food later along with a change of clothes. Afterwards they will then escort you to where all of the other competitors will be."
With that, the guard on my right brought out a shiny silver key and used it to open the door before me. I was then roughly shoved into the small pitch black room that only had minimal space and gave very little space to move. At least I could move around if my muscles started to cramp. Some room this is.
While I had been lost in my own thoughts, the door had been closed and locked leaving me alone and allowing me to gain control of my body again. Although at this point in time I didn't really want to have to think, it hurt way too much mentally.
Sometimes I ask myself why I couldn't just have a normal life, or at least one that's as normal as it can get being so rich. Thoughts just kept rushing through my head. Maybe next time I shouldn't take my security for granted, especially if it saves me from being kidnapped.
With these thoughts racing around in my mind, I close my eyes trying to fall into a fitful sleep, dreading of what will come when the time comes to have to wake up.
