"Holly! Get your a** downstairs now!" my mom screams to me. I jump out of my princess bed immediately and head downstairs to see what my mum needs.
I go into the kitchen, where my mum is. I see that she has a belt in her hand. She yells at me, "Why didn't you clean the bathroom, like I told you to?!?" She grabs me and whips me with the belt. Tears build up in my eyes. My mom drops me to the floor and walks away with the bloody belt. She just left me there to bleed.
I slowly get up and limp to my room. Walking up the stairs was a hassle, but I eventually got up them. I shut my bedroom door behind me and grab a book from my bookshelf. I can't read yet, so I look at all the pictures. The front had a picture of Princess Ariel on it. I had looked at that book many times. I love Ariel, so I always look at Ariel books.
When I finish looking at the book, I put it away. DING DONG! It's the doorbell. Who would ring the doorbell at 8:30 in the morning?!? I limp back downstairs to answer the door. "GRANDMA!" I whisper scream. She replies, "Holly, we need to get you out of here."
"Why, Grandma?"
"Holly, it's not safe for you here anymore."
"Why?"
I guess my grandma knew my mum whipped me. I think the limping gave it away.
"Holly, come outside with me... Into my car."
I quick grab my jacket and shoes and head outside with my grandma.
