Monday morning was terrible. My stomach kept turning. My head was pounding. My eyes were red with bags under them from crying. I was straining my muscles to move. I felt drained of all my energy. My body was refusing to move, while my head was telling me to get out of ed for school.
Canyon was already awake. He went in the bathroom to take a shower a few minutes ago. He doesn't take very long showers. He's actually quite fast. He was back in his room in less than ten minutes.
He had a towel around his waist. His hair was wet. He had water droplets running down his body. If I was in a better mood, I would gaze at him. But, I stared at the ceiling the entire time he was just wearing a towel.
"Are you going to school today?" He asks. I look over as he just pulled his boxers up his legs. If I would have looked any sooner, I would have saw something I don't want to see.
I rolled over, pulling the comforter over my head. "No."
The blanket was lifted off of me. Canyon was in a pair of sweat pants with no shirt on. He laid down next to me. He lifted my head and put his arm under it. He pulled me closer.
"I'll stay here with you." He rubs his fingers soothingly up and down my arm. Silence was crowding around us.
"Canyon, where are your parents?" I whisper quietly. His body stiffens beside me.
"They were murdered." He removes his arm from under my head and sits up. "My mom was raped and tortured for hours while they forced my dad to watch the entire time. I was at summer camp at the time; I just turned 12. My grandmother took care of me up until recently. I told her to move out and that I'm capable of taking care of myself. After all, she was only here for the fortune my parents left for me. I saw her a few times before the murder."
My mouth fell open in shock. I felt horrible. I should have never asked. "I'm so sorry. I should have kept my mouth closed." I sit up on my knees beside him. I wrap my arms around his head and pull him to my chest.
"They never found the guys. All these years and they're still walking free." He chokes out. Tears fall down his face. His body quakes with every tear.
I pull him down on the bed. He rest his head on my chest as I play with his soft brown hair. Soon after, his body stopped quaking and his tears stopped falling. His breathing steadied and he was fast asleep.
I lay there for the next few hours running my fingers through Canyon's hair. The sound of his quiet breathing was soothing to my ears. The way his arm was draped over my torso made me feel safe. I felt a sudden movement of Canyon's fingers on my side. He was rubbing my skin in his sleep. Truthfully, it was soothing. After a while of this, I fell in to a sleep myself.
There was rustling on the bed beside me. I cup my hands over my eyes before rubbing them. I jump when I open my eyes. Canyon was literally in my face. He laughed at my reaction.
I pull the pillow from under my head and hit him in the face. It was my turn to laugh. He lifted me up from my waist off the bed. He started kissing my neck like you would do to little kids I make them laugh. And that's just what it did. His hands went to my side. He tickled me to the point of my sides hurting.
"Stop!" I squeeze out between laughter.
His hands stop tickling my sides as they slide up to cup my cheeks. He quickly mashes his lips to mine. It was sweet, but over too soon.
"Let's go make something to eat." He pulls me off the bed. He throws me over his shoulder and carries me to the kitchen. I laugh and smack his butt the whole way down.
"Let's make a homemade pizza." I suggest. Canyon smiles in approval.
We mix all the ingredients in a bowl that we need for the dough. I open a can of sauce from the pantry. I pour it in a big bowl with a ladle. Canyon prepares the dough. We put sauce, pineapples, chicken, banana peppers, and cheese on it. We wait patiently for our food to be done.
We sit at the massive dining room table and begin eating our food. The warmth from the pizza makes the taste of it much better. The ranch I dip it in also gives it more flavor.
"You're disgusting for eating ranch with your pizza." Canyon scrunched up his nose.
My mouth fell open in shock. "Don't knock it until you try it."
A smirk appears on his face. "Don't knock having sex with me until you try it."
"You are such a pervert." I take another bite of my slice of pizza. He laughs until he holds his side.
We didn't do much of anything for the rest of the day. We cleaned up and watched movies for the rest of the day after our shower. I mean the shower that we took separately. Canyon would love it way too much if he saw me naked.
I decided to go back to my house after. I had some things there that I needed to pick up. I also had to find my flash drive for this paper that was due in English. I figured I would just stop by and hope that Leah wasn't here.
I pulled in to the driveway and parked my car. The front door was unlocked. Someone with a key had to be here.
"Hello?" I yelled.
A tall figure walked out from the kitchen. He was holding a drink in his hand. "Hello, Tyra."
"Cartwright, what are you doing here?" he definitely has to have a key. Or maybe Leah just left him here when she left for work.
"I have a key." He reaches into his pocket and pulls it out. The keychain it is on dangles on his finger.
That is exactly what I thought. I can't believe her. After I practically moved out because she has been sleeping with the one person I gave everything to, she continues her sexual affairs with him. She even have him a key!
"That must be amazing for you. Now if you will excuse me, I have something important to do, which doesn't involve talking to you." I brush past him and run up the stairs.
I look in my desk drawers but find nothing. I was startled by Cartwright. He must have followed me. "I must say, you've really grown in to your body more. You look hotter every day."
"You disgust me. You have been sleeping with my aunt, the only person that has ever been there for me and raised me as her child, and now you want to hit on me. You really are a piece of work." I go back to looking for my flash drive. I search in the little box of junk in my closet. Nothing.
"About that," he trails off "I wanted to apologize. It was wrong of me to engage in such activities. Especially with the most important person in the world to you." He hangs his head.
I find the flash drive in my night stand drawer. "Found you." I mumble to myself. I walk out of my room, leaving Cartwright to himself.
I stop at the top of the stairs. "Your apology is declined. I can't forgive either of you for that just yet."
Before he can respond, I walk to my car and drive to Canyon's. I called Kylie on my way there. She said I could spend the rest of the week with her. As much as I find staying with Canyon enjoyable, I need to be focused on my game Saturday and the school work for the remainder of the week. I also have to make up work from missing school today. And being around Canyon would distract me. He gets bored easily. He would pester me until I paid attention to him. This week was going to be hectic.
